Was John Lennon<\/strong>\u2019s firstborn son Julian Lennon<\/strong> the OG nepo baby?<\/p>\n In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/a>, published Friday, October 24, the 62-year-old musician looked back on his early childhood growing up as the son of the late Beatles member<\/a>, who was assassinated at age 40.<\/p>\n \u201cSome have said that, with nepotism today, I was a pioneer,\u201d Julian told the publication. \u201cThere weren\u2019t many around, really. I was certainly one of the first in that field to deal with what I had to deal with. But I\u2019m here. I\u2019ve survived, and I\u2019m okay. I\u2019m alive and kicking. I\u2019m pretty happy with my life and my work.\u201d<\/p>\n Julian, whom John shared with first wife Cynthia Lennon<\/strong>, made his musical debut at age 11 on his father\u2019s Walls and Bridges album<\/a> by playing drums on \u201cYa-Ya.\u201d He released his debut album, Valotte, in 1984 when he was 22 years old and went on to have a successful career as a musician, photographer and author.<\/p>\n Still, growing up, \u201cPeople only knew me as John\u2019s son,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Universal Archive\/Universal Images Group\/Newscom\/The Mega Agency<\/span><\/p>\n Looking back, Julian recalled how he was even associated with his father when he went to school.<\/p>\n \u201cI was a pretty shy kid and had to go to a new school in the north [of England], where my mother partially lived, when I was 12 or 13,\u201d he remembered. \u201cI recall going to the morning assembly, where you\u2019d sing a couple of hymns and teachers would say a couple of things. It was the first day of school and I\u2019m crapping myself anyway because I was very uncomfortable being in a position of not knowing anybody. And the headmaster gets up at the end of the session and says, \u2018We\u2019d like to introduce some of the new staff members. And we also have Julian Lennon, the son of John Lennon from the Beatles.\u2019 And I\u2019m going, \u2018You motherf**ker.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cSorry for my French, but really, you just did that to me in a brand-new school, and now I\u2019m going to have to deal with that sh**?\u201d he continued. \u201cFortunately, most kids of that age, it went over their heads.\u201d<\/p>\n In fact, he said that people are \u201cvery confused\u201d about how he lived.<\/p>\n \u201cMom and I made our own way most of my life,\u201d said Julian. \u201cDad did help with food and clothing and school. But many people misunderstand that and believe that I\u2019m still and always have been in the mix and that I\u2019ve been swimming in mountains of money.
