Whether the week dragged or flew by, the weekend has arrived \u2014 and so have a host of events across the Sacramento region, from family outings and concerts to high school football and college sports.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s spots of patchy fog will give way to partly sunny skies with a high near 72 degrees, the National Weather Service office said in its Sacramento forecasts<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Clouds will increase into the evening, with an overnight low around 56 degrees.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saturday will be cloudy with a high of 66 and a 60% chance of precipitation. It\u2019ll likely rain Saturday before 11 a.m. with anticipated new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch. It\u2019ll be breezy too, with gusts as high as 18 mph.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saturday night is mostly cloudy with lows around 54 degrees, as chances of rain drop to 20% chance of rain after 11 p.m.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There\u2019s a 30% chance it could rain Sunday morning mainly before 11 a.m. Otherwise, Sunday seems to be mostly cloudy with highs near 64 and lows around 53, the forecast said<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So with that in mind, here\u2019s what is in store for the Sacramento area, check out this list of activities and events around the Sacramento region.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The NBA season has officially tipped off as the Sacramento Kings opened their season with a 120-116 loss Wednesday<\/u><\/a> against the Phoenix Suns. The Kings led by 20 in the first half of the game but were outscored 36-21 in the third quarter and 30-24 in the fourth.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Kings look to rebound from Wednesday\u2019s collapse in their first home game versus the Utah Jazz at 7 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tickets start at $50, according to Ticketmaster.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sacramento State\u2019s resurgent football team will face one of its toughest tests Friday night as it hosts undefeated No. 4 Montana at Hornet Stadium.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the game airing nationally on ESPN2 and locally on ESPN 1320 AM (KIFM).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Hornets (4-3) have won two in a row under first-year head coach Brennan Marion<\/a>, whose up-tempo \u201cgo-go\u201d offense has taken shape midway through the season. But Friday\u2019s matchup brings more than just Big Sky Conference stakes\u2014it\u2019s also drawing national attention for the off-field back-and-forth between the two programs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The buzz began last week when Sacramento State President Luke Wood, during a halftime interview with ESPN+ broadcaster Jason Ross, jokingly referred to the visiting Montana Grizzlies as the \u201cMontana Pandas.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to playing the Montana Pandas. Sorry. Montana Grizzlies. Grizzlies. I think that\u2019s their name, right?\u201d Wood said, while also complimenting Montana\u2019s football tradition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Montana head coach Bobby Hauck was less amused, calling Wood a \u201cclown\u201d<\/a> and saying he should \u201cfocus on the riot,\u201d referencing a fight that broke out on Sacramento State\u2019s campus following last weekend\u2019s Lil Yachty concert.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wood, in good fun, continued the back-and-forth during an ESPN Radio interview<\/u><\/a> with D-Lo and KC and provided his thoughts on Hauck\u2019s responses.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Friday\u2019s game marks a key moment for both teams. The Hornets are seeking to reestablish themselves as playoff contenders. The Grizzlies (7-0) are looking to remain unbeaten in pursuit of a top seed in the FCS postseason.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tickets<\/u><\/a> for the game at Hornet Stadium start at $17.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Durand Jones and the Indications will perform at Channel 24, 1800 24th St., at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Durand Jones and the Indications are known for \u201cCruisin\u2019 to the Park\u201d, \u201cFlower Moon\u201d, \u201cBeen So Long\u201d and \u201cWitchoo\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Friday show is sold out, but tickets for Saturday are available starting at $51<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sacramento Republic FC takes on Miami FC at Heart Health Park, 1600 Exposition Blvd., at 7 p.m. Saturday in their final home game of the regular season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Republic FC midfielder and captain Rodrigo \u201cRoRo\u201d Lopez, the club\u2019s first-ever signing as an expansion franchise in 2014, recently announced that he would hang up his cleats at the end of the 2025 season<\/u><\/a>, announcing his retirement from playing the sport but will remain with the team in a player development role.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Single match game tickets start at $23<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Sinners and Saints Halloween Party at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, 1200 Athens Ave. in Lincoln features a costume contest with a $2,500 top prize and a tribute concert \u201cRock With You: The Michael Jackson Experience\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The costume contest registration is from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The tribute concert starts at 9 p.m. and the Halloween party begins at 10:30 p.m.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Party while dressed up in your favorite costumes ahead of Halloween. However, no weapons are allowed and masks are only allowed in The Venue.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The event is for ages 21 or older. Tickets start at $40<\/u><\/a> for non-members and $35 for Thunder Reward members. Prices will increase the day of the event.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Kings play their second of back-to-back home games with a regular season bout against the Los Angeles Lakers, welcoming Luka Doncic and company to town for the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Both teams dropped their season-openers against familiar Pacific Division opponents. The Kings lost against the Suns, 120-116. The Lakers\u2019 opener 10-point loss at home was against the Warriors, 119-109.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Kings play the Lakers at 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $75, according to Ticketmaster<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Movie in the Park<\/b> invites families out to Butter Cole Field at McKinley Park, 601 Alhambra Blvd., to watch a Halloween-themed movie from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. All ages are welcomed. The event is free, registration available online<\/u>.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Outdoor Treat-a-thon<\/b> welcomes community members to South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road, for a Halloween event that includes a costume competition and candy distribution trail from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The free event welcomes all ages.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fright Night at Sim<\/b> is a free, family-friendly trick-or-treating and haunted house event at George Sim Community Center, 6207 Logan St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The event includes pumpkin decorating, photo booths, treats and refreshments. Children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Movies in the Park<\/b> hosted by Cosumnes Community Services District invites Elk Grove residents and neighbors to enjoy a free showing of the 1993 film Hocus Pocus at Derr-Okamoto Park, 9550 Mainline Drive. Seating opens at 5 p.m. Friday The movie will begin around sunset.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Melissa Villasenor<\/b> has a weekend of standup comedy shows at Punchline Sacramento, 2100 Arden Way, starting at 7 and 9:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $38 on Ticketmaster<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Trunk or Treat and Autumn Festival<\/b> invites the community for a free, family-friendly event with activities like a costume contest, face painting, bounce houses and games. The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at North Natomas Regional Park, 2501 New Market Drive.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n D\u00eda de los Muertos Celebration<\/b> is happening from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Arden Fair mall, 1689 Arden Way on the lower level near JCPenney. The free event honors the dead through community altars, art, sugar skull making workshops and live performances.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hillary Reynolds<\/b>, a Los Angeles-based indie artist, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Side Door, 2900 Franklin Blvd. Tickets<\/u><\/a> are $25.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Irie Nights<\/b> invites the city out to dance, eat, and enjoy the best sounds from the islands to the motherland. DJs will play afrobeats, dancehall, amapiano and more all night starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at The Rink Studios, 1031 Del Paso Blvd. The event is free with RSVP<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n City Experience Cruises<\/b> along the Sacramento River are ramping up their seasonal rides in preparation for Halloween.
