Cheryl Burke<\/strong> set the record straight about her relationships with the cast members of Dancing With the Stars<\/em>\u2014and why she\u2019s returning to the show three years after her exit.<\/p>\n From 2006 to 2022, the pro dancer competed in 26 seasons of the ABC celebrity ballroom competition, but she was not asked back for a tribute dance in honor of late judge Len Goodman<\/strong> in 2023. But Burke will return to the DWTS<\/em> ballroom for the first time in three years, this time as a guest judge for the Halloween theme night on Oct. 28.<\/p>\n In a new interview with People <\/em>magazine<\/a>, Burke, 41, confirmed that she has not spoken to any of the DWTS <\/em>pro dancers or judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, <\/strong>and Bruno Tonioli<\/strong> since her exit from the ballroom. The only dancer she has recently communicated with\u2014via text\u2014is Emma Slater.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be a huge reunion for sure,\u201d Burke said of her upcoming guest stint. \u201cI’m just really excited. Podcast<\/em><\/a> that she \u201cdefinitely\u201d did not feel like she was part of the DWTS<\/em> \u201cfamily\u201d amid the Goodman dance diss and reaction to her DWTS-themed <\/em>podcast, Sex, Lies & Spray Tans.<\/em><\/p>\n During an appearance on the Old-Ish<\/em><\/a> podcast, she said, \u201cWhat really hurts is when your old costars and co-workers do interviews about you. \u2026It was never a family, I guess, for me. Because family \u2026 they don\u2019t do that. They don\u2019t abandon you when times are hard, but also when you decide to leave. What happened to the family?\u201c<\/p>\n Despite all the dancer drama, Burke told People<\/em> that \u201cit just felt right\u201d to make her return to the show in honor of its 20-year milestone season. \u201cI think with any relationship, you have ups and downs, and that’s just the way life is,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n As for what led to her return, Burke told Variety<\/a><\/em>that producers always knew she was interested in a guest judge role. \u201cIt was a mutual thing,\u201d she said. \u201cThey reached out, obviously, and we took it from there. And I was never gonna say no, they know that.\u201d<\/p>\n The two-time mirrorball champion also said she believes everyone has \u201cmoved on\u201d from the past drama. \u201cThat happened a couple of years ago, and at the end of the day, they\u2019re my family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be so emotional,\u201d Burke added of her return to the DWTS <\/em>ballroom. \u201cI am really excited to see everybody. It\u2019s been so long. I\u2019m excited to meet the new dancers and see the people behind the scenes, people that you don\u2019t see on camera.
