The film starring Michael J. Fox turned 40 this year, and remains wildly popular \u2014 just two years ago, when Fox visited Salt Lake City\u2019s FanX convention, several fans spent thousands of dollars<\/a> on their \u201cBack to the Future\u201d fandom.<\/p>\n Part of the movie\u2019s enduring impact, Fox recently said, is its portrayal of bully culture \u2014 an issue that persists from one generation to the next.<\/p>\n \u201cWe live in a bully culture right now. Time is a bully.\u201d<\/p>\n And then Fox named a real-life bully \u2014 one he\u2019s been fighting for nearly as long as \u201cBack to the Future\u201d has been around.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me personally, Parkinson\u2019s is a bully,\u201d the 64-year-old actor said, referencing the progressive neurodegenerative disease he was diagnosed with at the shockingly young age of 29. \u201cAnd it\u2019s all about how you stand up to them and the resolve that you take into the fight with them. It\u2019s about your resilience and your courage.\u201d<\/p>\n Fox has been fighting Parkinson\u2019s since his 1991 diagnosis \u2014 \u201cThere are not many people who have had Parkinson\u2019s for 35 years,\u201d the actor recently told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the early days of the diagnosis, Fox turned to alcohol to dissociate.
