\n\tEXCLUSIVE: <\/strong>The Austin Film Festival<\/a> has announced its 2025 Script and Film Competition Award winners. The 32nd annual fete recognized a new class of storytellers in 33 categories, who received AFF\u2019s signature\u00a0Bronze Typewriter Award at the Awards Luncheon\u00a0held Oct. 25.<\/p>\n

\n\tFounded in 1994 on the principle of honoring the screenplay, AFF\u2019s yearly Writers Conference and\u00a0competitions serve as a launchpad,\u00a0identifying\u00a0and connecting emerging talent with established industry leaders via mentorship and career development. Selected from a pool of more than 17,000 submissions across 112 countries, 35 writers and filmmakers were\u00a0recognized\u00a0this year for their outstanding work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor over\u00a0three\u00a0decades,\u00a0our competitions have served to highlight emerging creatives and recognize original storytelling,\u201d said Barbara Morgan,\u00a0executive\u00a0director of\u00a0AFF, in a statement.\u00a0\u201cAt a time when the industry is in flux,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0proud to be partnering with so many\u00a0industry leaders to\u00a0identify\u00a0the next generation of\u00a0screenwriters\u00a0and\u00a0create real opportunities.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAwarded writers and filmmakers received accolades from\u00a0industry\u00a0partners\u00a0including\u00a0AMC Networks,\u00a0Enderby Entertainment,\u00a0Josephson Entertainment and\u00a0the Writers Guild of America East.\u00a0Additionally, winners in the Narrative, Documentary and Animated Shorts competitions are eligible for Academy Award consideration.<\/p>\n

\n\tThrough\u00a0its\u00a02025 Script Competitions, AFF also partnered with Wonder Project to\u00a0identify\u00a0writers whose scripts embody humor, heart and hope. The inaugural\u00a0Wonder Project | Stand Together\u00a0Fellowship\u00a0was awarded to\u00a0Christopher Holt\u00a0for his\u00a0script\u00a027 Cows.<\/em>\u00a0Holt\u00a0will\u00a0participate\u00a0in a\u00a0one-year\u00a0screenwriting fellowship overseen by former Marvel executive and\u00a0producer Jeremy Latcham, during which\u00a0he will\u00a0develop stories with the Wonder Project | Stand Together teams and be paid a\u00a0union-comparable rate.\u00a0Additional\u00a0fellowship partners this year include\u00a0Big Indie Pictures, The Donners\u2019 Company,\u00a0Starburns\u00a0Industries and YMH Studios.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo win the Wonder Project | Stand Together Fellowship is unbelievable,\u201d Holt said. \u201cI\u2019m over the moon, and\u00a0I just want to do the best job I possibly can.\u00a0This kind of thing\u00a0has\u00a0not happened\u00a0to me\u00a0before,\u00a0so\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0very,\u00a0very\u00a0pleased and grateful.\u201d\u00a0

This year\u2019s recipients join a lineage of AFF alumni\u00a0including\u00a0Clint Bentley, Zarna Garg, Greg\u00a0Kwedar, Ashley Lyle, LaToya Morgan, Megan Park and Oren Uziel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWinning projects were selected by a panel of industry vets whose credits include\u00a0The Bear, BoJack Horseman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hacks, The Sex Lives of College Girls, South Park, Ted Lasso<\/em> and Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, among\u00a0others.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n
