Robert Irwin<\/strong> just revealed that someone from outside his family played a powerful role in helping him understand his father’s legacy \u2014 legendary actor Russell Crowe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In an interview with People<\/a><\/em> published Saturday, Oct. 25, the Dancing With The Stars<\/em> contestant shared how the Gladiator<\/em> actor has helped him to keep his late father\u00a0Steve Irwin<\/strong>\u2019s memory alive.<\/p>\n \u201cI’ve known him for as long as I’ve been alive,\u201d Irwin said of Crowe while attending the premiere of his new film Nuremberg<\/em> alongside his mother Terri Irwin<\/strong> at the\u00a02025 AFI Fest. \u201cI have some very early memories, actually. Some of the earliest memories of me with my dad were also with Russell, which is really special.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI’m really grateful that I have someone in my life who … he’s actually been there to, in a way, keep my dad alive in my life,\u201d he continued. \u201cHe has so many stories to share of him and dad, and I feel like I build an even better picture of my dad when I’m around Russell.\u201d<\/p>\n RELATED: Robert Irwin Reveals What Role He Wants to Play on Broadway (Exclusive)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Irwin added that the actor has given him a unique perspective on his father, separate from what he hears from his mother or his sister Bindi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cRussell and dad were just great mates, so it’s a different perspective than when you’re hearing about your mom,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt’s meaningful. He’s someone that I look up to and has truly inspired me.\u201d<\/p>\n Steve Irwin was an Australian zookeeper and wildlife conservationist\u00a0who first became famous for his television show\u00a0Crocodile Hunter<\/em>. He died on Sept. 4, 2006 after being attacked by a stingray while filming\u00a0an underwater documentary.
