Actors Rudy Mancuso<\/a> and Camila Mendes<\/a>, a couple both onscreen and off, just made it official.<\/p>\n They\u2019re headed down the aisle.<\/p>\n \u201cEngaged to my best friend<\/a>,” Mendes, 31, said on Instagram Saturday, sharing photos from the proposal.<\/p>\n Mancuso<\/a>, 33, who grew up in Glen Ridge<\/a>, starred with Mendes in his feature directorial debut, the New Jersey-set \u201cM\u00fasica<\/a>,\u201d which premiered on Amazon last year. The actors met working on the film.<\/p>\n Mancuso also plays Capt. Pauly Russo, a 1960s airman in the new HBO series \u201cIt: Welcome to Derry<\/a>,\u201d premiering Sunday.<\/p>\n He popped the question<\/a> Friday at party attended by the couple\u2019s family and friends.<\/p>\n Mendes and Mancuso, who have been dating since 2022, entered a curtained corner of the party framed by draped white curtains and white flowers for the photo op. They embraced<\/a> after Mendes said \u201cyes,\u201d sharing the happy news with party guests.<\/p>\n And yes, the proposal was a surprise.<\/p>\n \u201cShe thought she was going to a birthday party<\/a> for producing partner Rachel Matthews, but it was a surprise engagement party instead,\u201d a source told People. \u201cRudy proposed to her in front of their family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n Mendes plays Mancuso\u2019s love interest, Isabella, in \u201cM\u00fasica,\u201d for which she also served as an executive producer.<\/p>\n Mancuso stars in the film as \u201cRudy Mancuso\u201d in a romantic tale and ode to creativity inspired by his own life and experiences with synesthesia<\/a>.<\/p>\n The movie, which Mancuso co-wrote with Dan Lagana, follows a street performer<\/a> and puppeteer<\/a> who hears music everywhere<\/a>, including in everyday sounds. Mancuso was both composer and choreographer on the innovative musical film.<\/p>\n Both Mendes and Mancuso are of Brazilian American heritage.<\/p>\n \u201cM\u00fasica,\u201d which is set in the Brazilian community of Newark\u2019s Ironbound, filmed in the Ironbound as well as Mancuso\u2019s Glen Ridge and Kearny, Hoboken, Paramus, Chatham Township, Montclair, Harrison, Clifton and East Orange.<\/p>\n Mancuso also appeared in the DC movie \u201cThe Flash<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Mendes, who grew up in Georgia and Florida, is known for playing Veronica Lodge in the CW series \u201cRiverdale<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Her other film credits include \u201cPalm Springs<\/a>\u201d (2020), \u201cDo Revenge<\/a>\u201d (2022) and \u201cUpgraded<\/a>\u201d (2024).<\/p>\n Read the original article on NJ.com<\/a>.
