Humorist David Sedaris returns to Artis\u2015Naples with a lot on his mind.<\/p>\n

He’s a best-selling author<\/a> who’s penned books, diaries and more for nearly a quarter-century, beginning with his popular essay “Santaland Diaries” in 1992.<\/p>\n

Sedaris’ best-selling books have included “Naked” in 1997, “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim” (2004) and “Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls” (2013).<\/p>\n

“When I write about something I try to write about in a way that everyone can relate too even if it’s an experience that not everybody has had,” Sedaris said in a telephone interview.<\/p>\n

Here’s some of the questions the Naples Daily News asked Sedaris.<\/p>\n

What do you think is really funny?<\/h2>\n

\u201cGosh, people falling down. That\u2019s always funny, when you go on YouTube and Instagram and see all these videos. There\u2019s a good one too where a woman is on ice skates where she skates into a street lamp and falls on her (behind).”<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite book?<\/h2>\n

Sedaris referred to “The Easter Parade: A Novel” by Richard Yates, a 2001 book about two sisters and their story over four decades.<\/p>\n

“I just find so much to admire,” said Sedaris, noting he reads the book every summer. “I don\u2019t need to read things that are like my stuff. I don\u2019t need to read funny things. I don\u2019t seek it out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like a sad book and it every summer.\u201d<\/p>\n
