{"id":2116746,"date":"2025-10-26T16:52:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T16:52:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2116746"},"modified":"2025-10-26T16:52:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T16:52:29","slug":"her-majesty-queen-sirikit-dies-aged-93","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/her-majesty-queen-sirikit-dies-aged-93\/","title":{"rendered":"Her Majesty Queen Sirikit dies aged 93"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><h2>The year-long funeral for Queen Sirikit began on Sunday, 26 October.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Queen Mother of Thailand, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, has died at the age of 93.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bureau of the Royal Household, she passed away at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok, where she had been receiving continuous medical care since September 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The former queen reportedly contracted a bloodstream infection, medically known as sepsis, on 17 October 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Despite medical intervention, her condition gradually worsened and she passed away on Friday, 24 October.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO READ: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/lifestyle\/entertainment\/celebrity-news\/dangelos-son-breaks-silence-after-singers-death\/\">\u2018Very rough and sad year for me\u2019: D\u2019Angelo\u2019s son speaks out following singer\u2019s death<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-year-long-funeral-begins\">Year-long funeral begins<\/h2>\n<p>The year-long funeral for Queen Sirikit began on Sunday 26 October 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thejakartapost.com\/world\/2025\/10\/26\/year-long-funeral-starts-for-thailands-former-queen-sirikit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JP<\/a><\/em>, her remains were transported from Chulalongkorn Hospital to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, where she will lie in state for one year before cremation.<\/p>\n<p>Royalists gathered to pay their respects during the procession, marking the start of national mourning.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tributes-pour-in-for-queen-sirikit\">Tributes pour in for Queen Sirikit<\/h3>\n<p>Thailand\u2019s Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, described her death as \u201ca great loss for the country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Miss Universe Organization also released a statement expressing condolences.<\/p>\n<p>The global beauty pageant organisation described Queen Sirikit as \u201can enduring symbol of grace, compassion and devotion to the Thai people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout her reign as Queen Consort to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and later as Queen Mother, she dedicated her life to humanitarian service, the preservation of Thai arts and culture, and the promotion of social and rural development across the Kingdom,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added: \u201cHer Majesty\u2019s life of compassion and leadership continues to inspire generations in Thailand and around the world.
