Former Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson<\/strong> was arrested in Texas for driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon.<\/p>\n

According to a report published on Sunday, October 26, by TMZ<\/em><\/a>, Peterson, 40, was arrested in Sugar Land at around 10:00 a.m. that day.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed via Fort Bend County jail records<\/a> obtained on Sunday that Peterson was charged with \u201cunlawful carrying [of a] weapon\u201d and \u201cDWI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us<\/em> has reached out to a representative for Peterson for comment, as well as the Sugar Land Police Department for comment.<\/p>\n

TMZ<\/em> noted via its Sunday coverage that Peterson, who played running back for the Vikings from 2007 and through the 2016 season, was arrested in April for DWI \u201cafter the Vikings draft day party when a police officer claimed they saw him going 83 in a 55 MPH zone just after 3 a.m.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further reporting on Sunday\u2019s arrest by local news outlet KHOU 11<\/a> stated that \u201cthe investigation is still active.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peterson\u2019s trouble with the law goes as far back as 2014, when he suspended by the NFL for one year following a charge of felony child abuse<\/a> for using \u201ca switch to spank his then 4-year-old son,\u201d per reporting by ABC News<\/a> at the time. Peterson pleaded no contest in the case, which resulted in a reduced charge of misdemeanor reckless assault, per the outlet\u2019s coverage.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFormer NFL defensive end and UFC fighter Greg Hardy has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a member of his family. Hardy, 36, was arrested in Richardson, Texas on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:29 p.m., according to jail records viewed by Us Weekly. He was charged with \u201cassault causes bodily injury family member,\u201d according to the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Peterson\u2019s then-agent, Ron Slavin<\/strong>, said in a statement obtained by the outlet at the time that, \u201cthere is nothing more important to Adrian Peterson than being a good father to his children.\u201d Slavin also noted that Peterson \u201clearned several valuable lessons\u201d in 2014 as a result of the suspension and subsequent counseling.<\/p>\n

Peterson himself also released a statement regarding the incident, published by ESPN<\/a> at the time. \u201cI have learned a lot and have had to reevaluate how I discipline my son going forward,\u201d the statement read. \u201cBut deep in my heart I have always believed I could have been one of those kids that was lost in the streets without the discipline instilled in me by my parents and other relatives. I have always believed that the way my parents disciplined me has a great deal to do with the success I have enjoyed as a man. I love my son and I will continue to become a better parent and learn from any mistakes I ever make.\u201d<\/p>\n
