Bassett\u2019s Black Panther look was created by award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who also took home the prestigious Oscar in 2019 for her work in the MCU movie.<\/p>\n
According to her, she conducted extensive research and study of traditional practices and looks of different African tribes to come up with the costumes.<\/p>\n
“We created lots of mood boards that showed you the different indigenous tribes and what that look like,” she told NPR<\/a>in 2013, adding, “There’s thousands of tribes throughout the continent of Africa, and we picked eight or 12 of them to represent the tribes of Wakanda.”<\/p>\n As for the iconic star, she also earned the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ramonda.<\/p>\n In her acceptance speech<\/a>, she paid tribute to her late co-star Chadwick Boseman, who played King T’Challa and the son of Queen Ramonda.<\/p>\n “He was just a source of great inspiration for all of us, and when he was not there in the physical, he most definitely was there in the spiritual,” she said. “He was with us, every single day. Even when it got difficult or hard or things sort of fell apart along the way, you knew that you couldn’t sit down. You couldn’t rest.
