People on the video-sharing platform are asking whether they\u2019re part of \u201cgroup 7\u201d yet. Let\u2019s take a closer look at how this trend exactly started and what it takes to become part of this mysterious \u201cgroup 7.\u201d<\/p>\n It all started when singer Sophia James<\/span> recently posted a series of TikTok videos of herself. She shared a brief incident in which she received a parking ticket while singing and dancing to her new song \u201cSo Unfair.\u201d This turned into a marketing strategy for the 26-year-old as she began posting a series of videos with the music, aiming for higher reach.<\/p>\n While self-promoting her song on the video-sharing platform, James started labeling groups of people who came across her song as \u201cgroup 5\u201d for the fifth video, for example. \u201cIf you\u2019re seeing this, you\u2019re a part of group 5,\u201d the text on the video read. \u201cI\u2019m posting a bunch of videos to observe which one gets the most reach. This is post number 5.\u201d<\/p>\n Eventually, she posted video number 6 and then video number 7, which led to shocking results. At the time of writing, post number 6 has around 6.2 million views, and post number 7, which reads, \u201cYou are in group 7,\u201d has a whopping 74.9 million views.<\/p>\n Along with fans, brands like Aveeno and Fenty Beauty also jumped onto the trend by commenting on the post. The Aveeno TikTok account commented, \u201cI heard group 7 has really great skin\u2026,\u201d while the Fenty Beauty account wrote, \u201cgroup 7 (is) the baddest we don\u2019t make the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n Sophia James followed this post with another video in which she told fans that the song wasn\u2019t viral, and that they\u2019re just in group 7. Further, testing her luck, James posted another video.
