Even after 36 years on the air,\u00a0The Simpsons\u00a0<\/i>still hasn\u2019t answered a number of lingering questions, like whatever happened to the\u00a0<\/span>Simpson family\u2019s rumpus room?<\/span><\/a> Or, when exactly did\u00a0<\/span>Barney fall off the wagon<\/span><\/a>? And\u00a0<\/span>who\u00a0really<\/i> shot Mr. Burns<\/span><\/a>?<\/span><\/p>\n One nagging mystery that has seemingly baffled fans for the past several years is the whereabouts of Moe Szyslak\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Maya.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Springfield\u2019s resident bartender\/panda trafficker first met Maya back in Season 20\u2019s \u201cEeny Teeny Maya, Moe.\u201d And after a smattering of appearances, the pair ultimately got engaged in Season 33\u2019s \u201cThe Wayz We Were.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But aside from a brief cameo in the opening credits of \u201cHomer\u2019s Adventures Through the Windshield Glass,\u201d which was the show\u2019s 750th episode, Maya hasn\u2019t been seen or heard from in over four years.<\/span><\/p>\n As we\u2019ve mentioned before<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0Simpsons<\/i> fans were especially confused about Moe\u2019s relationship status after last season\u2019s \u201cHomer and Her Sisters,\u201d in which Moe meets Patty and Selma for the first time, and aggressively hits on Marge\u2019s chain-smoking sisters. \u201cI always dreamed of hooking up with twins, ever since I saw that old commercial for the movie\u00a0Twins<\/i>,\u201d Moe tells Homer, adding, \u201cI think I\u2019m in love over here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Moe\u2019s interest in the Bouvier twins, coupled with Maya\u2019s prolonged absence, even led some fans to theorize that Moe might have been secretly married and divorced off-screen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But the newest episode, \u201cMen Behaving Manly,\u201d has finally cleared things up. In it, Homer, Chief Wiggum, Kirk Van Houten and pretty much every guy in Springfield are sent to a \u201cman camp\u201d (run by an alpha huckster played by\u00a0<\/span>Albert\/A. Brooks<\/span><\/a>) in order to better themselves. Moe is there too, and he reveals that he was sent by Maya.<\/span><\/p>\n Before anyone even gets a chance to ask where his fianc\u00e9e has been, Moe explains that, owing to his\u00a0<\/span>vaguely-defined Eastern European heritage<\/span><\/a>, before they get hitched \u201cthere\u2019s a five-year period where we can\u2019t see or talk to each other.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Then, at the very end of the episode, after several of Moe\u2019s fellow campers have reunited with their spouses, Moe embraces Maya. But the heartwarming moment is interrupted when Moe is reprimanded by an elderly woman who appears to be his mother. \u201cFour-and-a-half more years,\u201d she cautions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So the good news is that Maya still exists, hasn\u2019t died and is seemingly still in love with Moe. The bad news is, she probably won\u2019t be seen again for quite a while \u2014 or, depending when the series ends, possibly never again.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n
