Colin Farrell isn\u2019t feeling optimistic about a Season 2 for \u201cThe Penguin,\u201d noting in a recent interview he\u2019d \u201cbet against\u201d it ever happening.<\/p>\n
The actor \u2014 who played the comic book villain Oswald \u201cOz\u201d Cobb\u00a0(a.k.a. the Penguin) in Matt Reeves\u2019 \u201cThe Batman\u201d movie and then again in the spinoff series, \u201cThe Penguin,\u201d at HBO \u2014 issued his first clear statement to Comicbook.com<\/a> on the possibility of a second round.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a bit of a negativity bias. Apparently, I\u2019ve been told by various people close to me,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cSo I would say I would bet against, but not by much.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Farrell made it clear this was not an outright no, adding that \u201cthe powers that be are thinking of storylines that could justify another eight hours\u201d of television.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n Yet, as Farrell noted, any expansion of his series would have to correlate with Reeves\u2019 vision for the \u201cworld\u201d of Batman, a sequel to which starring Robert Pattinson is set for 2027.<\/p>\n \u201cIt conveniently worked that the death at the end of\u00a0\u2018The Batman\u2019\u00a0and the devastation within Gotham opened up a power vacuum that then Oz could try and capitalize on,\u201d Farrell went on. \u201cThat was perfect for the parallel eight hours that we had. And then [\u201cThe Batman Part II\u201d] will pick up, whatever, a few weeks after the show ended. But I kind of bet against, but not by a wide mark.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Penguin\u201d received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both fans and critics, with the show and its cast winning numerous awards following its release in 2024.<\/p>\n Namely, Farrell, for his work as the titular villainous protagonist, took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor (Miniseries or TV Film) and the SAG Award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie.
