Bret Baier<\/a> isn\u2019t going anywhere. At least for now.<\/p>\n On Monday, October 27, Fox News Channel\u2019s chief political anchor found himself at the center of speculation about a potential move<\/a> to rival network CBS. According to Oliver Darcy\u2019s Status<\/em><\/a> newsletter, CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss<\/a>, who was recently brought in to steer the network<\/a> in a more conservative direction, has reportedly discussed the possibility of recruiting Baier to join CBS, potentially as anchor of the CBS Evening News<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, Brair is currently under contract with Fox News through 2028. The anchor stated that he\u2019s \u201cflattered\u201d by the press reports about him being considered for CBS News, but he is quite happy at Fox.<\/p>\n On Citizen McCain With <\/em><\/a>Meghan McCain<\/a><\/em>, Brair addressed the rumor and put it to rest: \u201cI\u2019m flattered by all the press and everything like that, but I\u2019m in a multi-year contract with Fox. I don\u2019t know where everything\u2019s going. I\u2019m signed onto Fox, very happy at Fox, and, you know, we\u2019ll see what happens at the end of that. But it\u2019s interesting to see all the press about [it].\u201d<\/p>\n Darcy emphasized<\/a> that Baier is only \u201cone of several names that have been discussed internally,\u201d stating that the anchor remains under contract with Fox for a reported $14 million salary. Darcy also noted that \u201cthe fact that he has been considered signals where the network is headed\u201d under the new ownership of Trump-friendly billionaire David Ellison<\/a>, who took over CBS parent company Paramount in July.<\/p>\n The speculation followed a recent appearance on The <\/em>Sean Hannity Show<\/em><\/a>, where Baier spent part of Thursday\u2019s broadcast praising CBS News\u2019 political shift and criticizing mainstream journalists for what he described to host Sean Hannity<\/a> as \u201cTrump derangement syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n
