Jon Stewart<\/a> isn\u2019t ready to leave \u201cThe Daily Show<\/a>\u201d \u2014 at least, not yet.<\/p>\n Speaking with New Yorker editor David Remnick at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday, Stewart said he\u2019s \u201cworking on staying\u201d at Comedy Central once his contract expires in December.<\/p>\n The comedian, who returned<\/a> to host Monday nights in early 2024 after nearly a decade away, acknowledged recent tensions with the network\u2019s new corporate overseers. Comedy Central now falls under the newly formed Paramount Skydance Corporation, the result of a merger<\/a> between Paramount Global and Skydance Media. \u201cThey\u2019ve already done things that I\u2019m upset about,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cBut then if I had integrity, maybe I would stand up and go, \u2018I\u2019m out.\u2019 Or maybe the integrity thing to do would be to stay in it and keep fighting in the foxhole.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Paramount announced \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u201d will end in 2026 \u2014 a decision widely read as fallout from Colbert\u2019<\/a>s criticism of the company\u2019s $16 million settlement with Donald Trump over edits to a \u201c60 Minutes<\/a>\u201d interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. (Colbert called the move a \u201cbig, fat bribe.\u201d<\/a> The network maintained that the decision was purely financial.)
