Morgan decides to hide the truth from Clara, who finds refuge in Miller (Mason Thames), a boy from school whom Morgan disapproves of because his father is a felon, further pulling the two women apart.

Before watching the film in theaters, here’s every difference between Regretting You and its source material.

Morgan, instead of Jonah, finds Chris’ car in the film

According to Parade, in the book, Jonah, after talking to Morgan about his concerns about Chris and Jenny’s relationship, is the one who finds Chris’ car following the accident. However, in the film, Morgan is the one who finds it via her FindMy app, which she’s using to keep tabs on Clara.

Morgan finds the car parked at a hotel, and she and Jonah drive there to pick up the vehicle and Chris’ belongings. While in his hotel room, they find Jenny’s duffel bag that’s full of lingerie, confirming their suspicions that the two were having an affair. In the book, Morgan tells Jonah they should leave without Chris’ car, and they do so. At the house, she has a panic attack, and Jonah calms her down.

In the movie, Morgan takes Chris’ car home but hits it repeatedly with Jenny’s duffel bag.

Jonah is the one who’s concerned about Elijah’s paternity in the book

Contrary to the book, it’s Jonah who worries about Elijah’s paternity after learning of their affair and noticing similarities between the baby’s smile and Chris’.

However, in the book, Morgan wonders whether Elijah is Chris’, long before Jonah starts questioning Elijah’s parentage.

Clara distances herself from Miller in the novel because of his girlfriend, Shelby

Clara’s burgeoning relationship with Miler is compromised by the fact that he has a girlfriend, Shelby, in both the movie and the book. In the latter, unlike in the film, Clara distances herself from the relationship, even going so far as to delete his number after recalling what Jenny used to tell her about being the other woman.

In the movie, Clara expresses her disdain for the situation, especially when Miller runs to her after fighting with Shelby.

Morgan’s finances and pursuit of higher education are explored in the book

In the book, before Chris and Jenny’s accident, Morgan tells Chris she has dreams of going to university, which she couldn’t pursue after high school because she got pregnant with Clara at 17. The book delves deeper into Morgan’s pursuit of higher education, as she tells Clara she applied for a substitute teaching job and plans to reenroll in college. Later, she gets a job interview at a local real estate company, and throughout the book, Morgan is shown worrying about the family’s financial status without Chris.

The movie doesn’t explore Morgan’s education and finances as much as the book. Only a few scenes capture her exploring a career in interior and architectural design.

Clara and Miller’s documentary, ‘Chromophobe,’ doesn’t exist in the film

In the book, though Jonah gives Miller, an aspiring filmmaker, the idea of entering the film competition, Clara is the one who signs her beau up. The couple works on the project together, and in one of the book’s final chapters, they show their friends, Lexie (Sam Morelos) and Efren (Ethan Costanilla), the mock documentary Chromophobe, which concludes with a montage shot by Miller of their relationship. The scene is included in the movie version, but Chromophobe is not.

Clara doesn’t throw her phone at Jonah after witnessing his kiss with Morgan in the movie

In the movie, Morgan kisses Jonah one night at her house, surprising them both, whereas in the book, Jonah is more transparent about his feelings for her. Clara walks in on them in both versions, but her reaction to their smooch differs.

In the book, Clara is devastated and throws her phone across the room during class with Jonah, who happens to be one of her teachers, the next day at school. It breaks, and Jonah takes her out into the hallway and apologizes for the kiss.

Clara doesn’t have as strong a response in the movie, though she’s upset at Morgan and Jonah. Jonah later gifts her a new phone to smooth things over between them.

Clara doesn’t get drunk at the cemetery in the book

In the movie, Clara gets drunk at the place where Chris and Jenny are buried. The same scene takes place in the book with Lexie, but they’re not at the cemetery; instead, they’re in Clara’s bedroom.

Morgan and Jonah burn Chris and Jenny’s love letters in the movie

After telling Jonah how she feels about him at the end of the book, Morgan shreds Jenny’s secret love letters to her late husband that she found in Chris’ old toolbox. Morgan and Jonah get together, and the book ends with them starting a new chapter together.

However, in the movie, Morgan and Jonah burn the letters unread after sleeping together for the first time.

Regretting You is in theaters.

‘ The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties ’

‘ Some details of this article were extracted from the following source blavity.com ’

Following the successful (and controversial aftermath) of the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni-led romance drama It Ends With Us, another film adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel has hit theaters with Regretting You.
