Taken from the Essex-born folk troubadour\u2019s forthcoming new album \u201cKill Them With Kindness\u201d, due for release on 1st December via BotMusic, Pelican Crossing<\/strong> is, says Beans on Toast himself \u201ca song about the absurdities of the modern world and the appalling redesign of Pelican Crossings across the whole of the United Kingdom. Still very much a folk song in the style we have come to know and love, though this time the music is brought to life by Beans\u2019 new band, The Beans on Toast Band. Despite its dry and observational lyrics on the absurdities of modern life, Pelican Crossing<\/strong> is a jaunty, bright song with tinkling keyboards, joyous rhythms and melodic hooks for days.<\/p>\n

Recorded at Greenmount Studios in Leeds with the Beans on Toast Band, \u201cKill Them With Kindness\u201d features a collection of insanely talented musical friends hand-picked from the UK music and festival scene. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe’ve done a few tours together, but this was our first venture into a studio. Each one of them is amazing, and together… well, I’m proper chuffed with how it sounds,\u201d Beans on Toast explains. “This album is a bit of a juxtaposition, as is the title. There are songs that deal with the current state of the world. Wars, maniac leaders, the rise of AI and the fall of the establishment. Then there are songs about trees, late nights in music venues, art, love and my new cat. As usual, it’s a time stamp of my thoughts and feelings from the past year on planet Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n
