Marcie Free, the lead singer for bands such as King Kobra, Signal and Unruly Child, has died.<\/p>\n
She was 71.<\/p>\n
Blabbermouth.net reported Free\u2019s death<\/b><\/a> and cited a social media post from Unruly Child drummer Jay Schellen. <\/p>\n \u201cI just couldn\u2019t find the words last night when I heard the news that my loving friend and bandmate in Unruly Child mrcie Free has passed,\u201d Schellen wrote on Facebook. \u201cThis is heartbreaking.<\/p>\n \u201cBruce (Gowdy, guitar), Guy (Allison, keyboards), Larry (Antonino, bass) all of which I hold dear as family are shattered for the loss of our Marcie. We began UC together in 1992 and continued our friendship and music making through these years to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n Schellen called Free \u201ca marvel to behold.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cA voice that had no limits and no equal,\u201d he wrote. \u201cA truly singular talent and one of the most open and beautiful souls I have ever known.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m gutted and can\u2019t say much more.\u201d<\/p>\n Schellen addressed the rest of the band and told them he loved them. <\/p>\n \u201cLove to you too Marcie,\u201d he wrote. \u201cYou always were an Angel, now you have your wings.\u201d<\/p>\n Free, previously known as Mark Free, came out as a trans woman in 1993. <\/p>\n Blabbermouth reported that she contributed vocals to two King Kobra albums before leaving the band in 1986.
