Barrymore, whose daughter Olive just turned 13, turned to Falco to ask her advice on how to handle some of the ups and downs of teenagehood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHow have you coped having a teenage daughter? Don\u2019t take any of it personally,\u201d said Falco.\u00a0<em>The Sopranos<\/em> star is mom to daughter Macy, 17, and son Anderson, 20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A few seconds later, Barrymore asked how Falco can not take things personally when her daughter lashes out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI mean, for me it was a hard one because I took a lot of it personally,\u201d Falco said. \u201cAnd then we went through some real rocky times and through various workshops and parenting and this that and the other thing. I learned that she is individuating, I think is the word.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;She\u2019s becoming a separate person, and this is part of what she needs to do in order to do that. When you put them in like scientific terms, it\u2019s much easier to manage,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;It\u2019s not about me. And she says mean stuff, and she knows how to get at me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThey know how to push the buttons,\u201d said Barrymore. \u201cYou all planted them together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThat\u2019s exactly right. But when time passes and you don\u2019t take this stuff personally, the fights go away quicker,&#8221; Falco said. &#8220;The healing happens much quicker. And she is 17 now. Four years past the worst. And she is probably my favorite person on the planet. Did not see that coming. She is my number one and will always be my number one. But I\u2019m not her number one anymore. I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m anywhere on the list,&#8221; joked the proud dad. &#8220;But I do have a very deep, deep relationship with her for two reasons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Just being the male figure for her. We\u2019re very very close in that way. And also the incident, the accident,&#8221; he continued, referring to his 2023 snowmobile accident that left him with over 30 broken bones. &#8220;She knew that her dad was not around. Now mind you, this doesn\u2019t wipe the slate clean for me on that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Renner went on to say that his daughter was a little different from Falco and Barrymore&#8217;s kids, since she internalizes things rather than lashes out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;She internalizes a lot and I see her struggle and that kind of really hurts me watching her struggle. You know, you don\u2019t want to see your kid really suffer, and she really kind of does, as a lot of kids do,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So like you said, I don\u2019t want to take things personally. I try to help her rationalize things out. I\u2019m like, \u2018What am I even doing this for?
