Brad Pitt and Shania Twain are forever linked, and not because they once dated or are even close friends.<\/p>\n
Twenty-eight years ago next week, Twain dropped her third studio album, Come On Over. One of the album’s biggest hits, the song “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” which was officially released in 1998, features a nod to Pitt in its lyrics.<\/p>\n
\u201cOK, so you\u2019re Brad Pitt?\/That don\u2019t impress me much,” Twain sings on the track.<\/p>\n
Because Pitt was name-dropped in not exactly a flattering way, many have wondered if he and the Canadian-born Twain have a personal “beef” of sorts.<\/p>\n
Twain told the truth on the matter in a new interview with Australia\u2019s \u201cWill & Woody\u201d<\/a> radio show this week.<\/p>\n “We’ve never met,” Twain said Monday, via the celebrity.land<\/a>. “I mean, there\u2019s a lot of Hollywood celebrities I\u2019ve never met.”<\/p>\n There was no personal animosity behind Twain’s decision to shout out Pitt in “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”<\/p>\n It was simply a sign of the times, she told “Will & Woody.”<\/p>\n \u201cI was thinking, okay, everybody in the world is in love with Brad Pitt right now. There were nude photos of him, and everybody was gaga over that,\u201d Twain explained. \u201cAnd I\u2019m thinking, okay, if there is anyone that is making an impression on everyone\u2026and that\u2019s why I picked on him.\u201d<\/p>\n Considering “That Don’t Impress Me Much” became Twain’s third-biggest single on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit the top 10 in 16 different countries, perhaps Pitt should look at his inclusion as a badge of pride.<\/p>\n In 2022, Twain changed the lyric to include actor Ryan Reynolds’ name instead of Pitt’s, prompting a reaction from the F1 star.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we can share the wealth there,” Pitt said<\/a> about the switch. “Yeah, Ryan\u2019s a good egg, too.
