Actor Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> reflected on her famous press tours during her 20s, saying she lost \u201cso much control over\u201d her craft doing press for movies and called her interviews \u201cso embarrassing.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lawrence told The New Yorker in a profile published Monday<\/a> that, a few years ago, she told actor Viola Davis: \u201cEvery time I do an interview, I think, \u2018I can\u2019t do this to myself again.\u2019 I feel like I lose so much control over my craft when I have to do press for a movie.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She continued, \u201cWell, it is, or it was, my genuine personality, but it was also a defense mechanism. And so it was a defense mechanism, to just be, like, \u2018I\u2019m not like that! I poop my pants every day!\u2019 \u2026 I look at those interviews, and that person is annoying. I get why seeing that person everywhere would be annoying. Ariana Grande<\/a>\u2019s impression of me on \u2018SNL\u2019<\/a> was spot-on.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Grande\u2019s impression of Lawrence on a 2018 episode of \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d poked fun at Lawrence\u2019s annoying relatability, mocking the actor for eating a whole can of Pringles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lawrence told The New Yorker that she felt like she was being rejected from roles for her personality. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

YouTube compilations with millions of views show Lawrence, who won an Oscar for her role in \u201cSilver Linings Playbook,\u201d being goofy, tripping at the Oscars, drinking on talk shows<\/a>, or retelling her most embarrassing moments, like mistakenly thinking she was talking to Elizabeth Taylor when Taylor had been dead for years<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But Lawrence, who is now promoting her new movie with Robert Pattinson, \u201cDie, My Love,\u201d is back working following a few years off after she said she felt like everybody had \u201cgotten sick\u201d of her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI just think everybody had gotten sick of me,\u201d Lawrence told Vanity Fair in 2021<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d gotten sick of me. It had just gotten to a point where I couldn\u2019t do anything right. If I walked a red carpet, it was, \u2018Why didn\u2019t she run?\u2019\u2026 I think that I was people-pleasing for the majority of my life. Working made me feel like nobody could be mad at me: \u2018Okay, I said yes, we\u2019re doing it. Nobody\u2019s mad.\u2019 And then I felt like I reached a point where people were not pleased just by my existence. So that kind of shook me out of thinking that work or your career can bring any kind of peace to your soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lawrence told Stephen Colbert in 2021<\/a> on his late-night show that her break was \u201cquiet\u201d and she became \u201cpart of the world again without fanfare.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
