While reflecting on her beauty evolution, the “<\/span>Wicked<\/span><\/a>” star shared why she isn\u2019t interested in growing out her hair.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis is what I want to look like,\u201d Erivo, 38, told <\/span>Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/span><\/a> in an interview published Oct. 28. \u201cI love a heel, I love a nail, I love a jaw, I love a bald head, I love a good outfit. It is legitimately a way of just expressing parts of myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the <\/span>Broadway actor<\/span><\/a> isn\u2019t afraid to experiment with her hair. She\u2019s worn several different styles over the years, including braids, a buzz cut, an <\/span>underrated bob<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>short blonde curls<\/span><\/a>. However, Erivo took an extra bold step and shaved her head \u2014 and later, her brows \u2014 when she <\/span>became Elphaba alongside <\/span>Ariana Grande\u2019s Glinda<\/span><\/a> in 2021. (Similar to her costar, Grande went through her own transformation and <\/span>dyed her signature brown hair blonde.<\/span><\/a>) <\/span><\/p>\n PHOTOS<\/b> Cynthia Erivo’s Best Looks<\/a><\/p>\n And with Erivo sporting such a dramatic look, she\u2019s created a go-to moisturizing routine to keep the cut fresh. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBetween each shave, maybe like three days, [I\u2019ll use a] hot towel immediately,\u201d she explained to <\/span>Refinery 29\u2019s Unbothered<\/span><\/a> in February. \u201cKeep the pores open with a little spray, like a tea tree one, to make sure everything is taken care of.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After hydrating her skin, the \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d singer then locks those steps in with Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>\u2019s <\/span>Cecred Hair Oil<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt just keeps everything good,\u201d she gushed over the popular product. \u201cKeeps the scalp really moisturized and healthy.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n Though her bald cut has become synonymous with her <\/span>role as the Wicked Witch<\/span><\/a>, this look also represents her years-long self-love journey. In fact, the “Color Purple” alum revealed she tried to shave her head at the start of her career, but it didn\u2019t go as planned. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI remember saying to myself, \u2018I\u2019d like to walk into a room and have people just see my face,\u2019\u201d she told <\/span>Self<\/span><\/a> in March 2023. \u201c[My hairdresser] would only cut some of it. So I left with a haircut that I didn\u2019t want. I allowed her fears or something she was projecting onto me to affect how I made my decision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Erivo eventually found another stylist to give her the chop of her dreams, and that comforting interaction made her realize that \u201cmy beauty doesn\u2019t stem from how I do my hair.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cBeing powerful is every day finding what the most authentic version of yourself is that day and sticking with it, not allowing other people’s perception of who you are or what you are sway you,\u201d she continued. \u201cHow you feel about yourself \u2014 that\u2019s powerful for me.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
