Lionsgate<\/a> has closed a deal for worldwide rights to \u201cThe Furious<\/a>,\u201d the martial arts thriller that became the breakout hit of this year\u2019s Toronto Film Festival\u2019s Midnight Madness<\/a> section. The film subsequently played at the Busan International Film Festival.<\/p>\n

The studio is targeting a 2026 theatrical bow for the film. The pact excludes Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao.<\/p>\n

Bill Kong<\/a>, whose producing credits include \u201cCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon<\/a>,\u201d \u201cHero<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cHouse of Flying Daggers<\/a>,\u201d is behind the project. Kong teamed with XYZ Films<\/a> early in development \u2013 the company that produced \u201cThe Raid<\/a>\u201d franchise \u2013 with the goal of crafting the definitive martial arts action pic of the past decade.<\/p>\n
