Online<\/a><\/p>\n Look what you made Derek Hough<\/strong> do.<\/span><\/p>\n Amid former <\/span>Dancing With the Stars<\/span><\/em><\/a> pros <\/span>Maksim Chmerkovskiy<\/strong><\/a> and<\/span> Peta Murgatroyd<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s pointed criticism of current pro <\/span>Jan Ravnik<\/strong>, the <\/span>Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> backup dancer earned special praise<\/span> from Derek on the Oct. 28 Halloween episode.<\/span><\/p>\n Following Jan’s contemporary dance to \u201cLook What You Made Me Do” with his dance partner <\/span>Jen Affleck<\/strong>, the judge made sure to show his support. <\/span><\/p>\n “Jan, first of all, I want to tell you, my man, that you are doing a fantastic first season,” Derek said. “Fantastic!”<\/p>\n He added that he did agree with fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba<\/strong>‘s critique on stretching their feet and watching their limbs.<\/p>\n “Just be aware of your whole body,” Carrie Ann told Jen. “I’m not trying to be hard on you. Just know I say this with love, because I want you to improve because I see the potential in you.”<\/span><\/p>\n Maks went on to note how he was encouraged after Jan delivered “one dance that delivered some sort of direction” but that his momentum went “off the cliff” with his subsequent teachings of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em> star.<\/p>\n He added that his criticism is less about Jan, 30, himself and more about the decision to hire him in the first place.<\/p>\n “Jan, whoever he is, I have zero against him whatsoever,” the 45-year-old said. “No way, this was a missed opportunity.”<\/p>\n More from E! Online<\/strong><\/p>\n Ahead of the dancing competition\u2019s Halloween-themed episode, Jan, 30, and Jen, 26, raised eyebrows by <\/span>seemingly addressing<\/span><\/a> Maks and Peta\u2019s opinion that the Slovenia native has \u201c<\/span>absolutely no business<\/span><\/a> being a pro on <\/span>Dancing with the Stars<\/span><\/em>.”<\/span><\/p>\n For his part, Jan shared a picture on his <\/span>Instagram Story<\/span><\/a> hours before the live episode of himself bending over backward in a spooky, trance-like pose beside Jen, who held her hand in the air over him. Atop the snap, he wrote Taylor\u2019s lyrics, \u201cI\u2019ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
