Frankie Muniz is revealing why he hasn\u2019t spoken to his former \u201cgood friend\u201d Hilary Duff since they co-starred in their 2003 film Agent Cody Banks. <\/em> <\/p>\n Muniz revealed last month on The Joe Vulpis Podcast<\/em><\/a> that it was Duff\u2019s mother who created a rift in their friendship after he accused her of going behind his back to get the Lizzie McGuire <\/em>star<\/a> cast as the female lead in his film. <\/p>\n While Muniz, 39, said that he and Duff, 38, were \u201creally, really good friends\u201d for a \u201clong time,\u201d the Disney Channel star\u2019s mother, who was \u201cthe epitome of a stage mom,\u201d allegedly interfered after learning the Malcolm in the Middle <\/em>star<\/a> would be starring in Agent Cody Banks. <\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve actually never told this story, and I might get in trouble for it, but I don\u2019t care. I\u2019m 40,\u201d Muniz said in the Sept. 2 podcast episode, saying that after running into Duff\u2019s mom on the Lizzie McGuire <\/em>set, \u201cHer mom was like, \u2018Do you know what you\u2019re doing this summer? What are you doing this summer?\u2019 And I go, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m filming this movie where I\u2019m playing like a junior James Bond. It\u2019s called Agent Cody Banks<\/em>.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n When Duff\u2019s mother asked if there was a female part in the movie that might be good for her daughter, Muniz said he remained<\/a> noncommittal, despite knowing that his contract established he would have a say in who his co-star would be. <\/p>\n Muniz was already interested in Smallville<\/em>\u2018s Kristin Kreuk playing Cody\u2019s love interest, but the next day, he said he learned from Duff\u2019s mom that her daughter had signed on for the role the night before. <\/p>\n \u201cThe movie you knew nothing about yesterday?\u201d Muniz remembered thinking. After calling his agents, Muniz learned that \u201ccalls were made\u201d and that they knew he and Duff were close, so they \u201cjust assumed it was fine.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNeedless to say, I wasn\u2019t thrilled about it. And not because I didn\u2019t want it to be Hilary,\u201d he said, but because the decision had been made behind his back. <\/p>\n
