35 years after first stepping onto the dancefloor with Happy Mondays, legendary DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold has returned to one of the band\u2019s most defining tracks, \u201cStep On,\u201d with a brand-new remix \u2014 the first in a new digital series celebrating 40 years of the era-defining Manchester group.<\/p>\n
The remix, available now, marks the beginning of a run of reworks from a new generation of electronic innovators, with upcoming drops confirmed from Daniel Avery, Anna Prior, Mella Dee, and Shadow Child.<\/p>\n

The remix project lands as part of a larger celebration of Happy Mondays\u2019 40-year legacy, which continues this winter with The Factory Singles \u2014 a new compilation arriving December 5th on 2LP (including deluxe coloured vinyl), 2CD, and cassette. The release gathers every single the band issued through the iconic Factory Records label, from early cuts like \u201cDelightful\u201d and \u201cFreaky Dancin\u2019\u201d through \u201c24 Hour Party People,\u201d \u201cWrote for Luck,\u201d \u201cHallelujah,\u201d \u201cKinky Afro,\u201d and \u201cStep On.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spanning the band\u2019s groundbreaking 1985\u20131992 period, The Factory Singles captures Happy Mondays\u2019 role in fusing post-punk attitude with acid-house euphoria \u2014 a sound that redefined British music. Each edition features unique artwork created by Sublime Limbo (original Central Station designers Pat Carroll & Karen Jackson) with Sam Carroll, using vivid ink stains as a visual metaphor for the group\u2019s lasting mark on Manchester\u2019s culture.<\/p>\n
The celebration continues into 2026, when the Mondays hit the road for the Pills \u2019N\u2019 Thrills and Bellyaches 35th Anniversary Tour, running March to April 2026 with special guests The Farm and Northside, both of whom joined the original 1991 tour.<\/p>\n
For longtime fans, Oakenfold\u2019s remix is a rush of nostalgia with a modern pulse; for new listeners, it\u2019s a gateway into a band whose wild, swaggering sound helped define an era.
