{"id":2123257,"date":"2025-10-29T19:24:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T19:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2123257"},"modified":"2025-10-29T19:24:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T19:24:17","slug":"it-was-just-tragic-beyond-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/it-was-just-tragic-beyond-words\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;It was just tragic beyond words&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2025%2F10%2F114426187.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Luke Bryan\u00a0is getting candid on his sister Kelly Bryan\u2019s sudden death in 2007 at the age of 39.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never really explained what happened to my sister,\u201d the country superstar, 49, shared while on Tuesday\u2019s episode of the celebrity.land podcast, \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/all-there-is-anderson-cooper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All There Is with Anderson Cooper<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s some misinformation out there on the internet, and I think some people kind of wonder what happened and think that we\u2019ve tried to cover it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the first time since her death, Luke revealed what caused Kelly\u2019s passing at such a young age.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Anderson Cooper talks with Luke Bryan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBut there is a very, very small percentage of people that die for no reason in the world,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd it\u2019s called sudden death syndrome and that\u2019s essentially what they described my sister\u2019s death as. She was in her home doing her laundry, and it was Anderson, it was like, you know, somebody just turned the switch off on her. And it was just tragic beyond words.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Cooper, 58, asked Luke if it took his family \u201cawhile\u201d to receive the diagnosis.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan opens up about his sister\u2019s passing while on \u201cAll There is with Anderson Cooper.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">celebrity.land<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYeah, yeah, obviously,\u201d the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d judge replied. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to know what had happened because there was so much, there was just so much unanswered questions. And we wanted to know, could there be a family history of something that her children might have or may have?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luke noted that the \u201ctypical findings of an autopsy\u201d for someone in their late 30s would be \u201can aneurysm or an embolism or a blood clot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But for Kelly, \u201ceverything was inconclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had a pretty severe, like, orbital bone injury,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo whether she fainted or not, I think she may have went into the floor and kind of knocked herself out. My nephew was 3 at the time.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan with his sister Kelly and brother.  <span class=\"credit\">ABC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Luke believes that if \u201csomeone could have been there, maybe her chances of surviving\u201d could have \u201cbeen a lot better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe really was everything in our lives,\u201d the singer gushed. \u201cShe was a mother of three children and she was, I mean, the best mother you could ever dream of. And we all leaned on her for so many things and it\u2019s hard to really wrap your brain around her being gone.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> Luke said he still doesn\u2019t \u201cknow how to vocalize what [he] was feeling\u201d the day of her funeral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, the nausea. I did not want to go in the funeral home and see my sister. I was just really \u2026 not processing this well. And the fact that I knew at 5:00 p.m I was going to walk in that funeral home and have to deal with this \u2014 it was just really \u2014 I just wasn\u2019t doing well with it,\u201d he recounted. \u201cAnd we get in a car and it\u2019s the sensation you get in the car and that this has got to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan with his sister Kelly. <span class=\"credit\">ABC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CMA winner called himself a \u201cpretty spiritual guy\u201d who is \u201cpretty grounded in my belief in Christ and Christianity.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>But when Luke walked into the room, it was the \u201cfirst time\u201d in his life where he felt a \u201cspirit of another world take away my burden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I saw her, it was like something, it was almost like a pressure valve released,\u201d he recalled. \u201cAnd I just feel like between \u2026 I don\u2019t, I can\u2019t explain it. It was truly like she let \u2013 she set me free in that room. My mother did not have that experience and I think I was the only one in the family that had that experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seven\u00a0years after Kelly died, her husband,\u00a0Ben Cheshire, passed away from a heart attack.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan wife Caroline wishes their son Tate a happy birthday.  <span class=\"credit\">Caroline Bryan\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Luke immediately adopted their three kids, Jordan, Kris and Tilde, without a second thought. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just what you do as family,\u201d he told Cooper. \u201cAnd I guess you go into a tribe instinct and you do what you can to kind of make it \u2026 But Til it wasn\u2019t necessarily an adoption more like we were, we had to sign paperwork that he\u2019s our responsibility. And watching him come into our home and have to grieve the loss of his dad was really, really tough. And to watch my wife step up and do the work that she had to do was one of the most impressive things I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luke and his wife,\u00a0Caroline Boyer, share sons Thomas \u201cBo,\u201d 17, and Tatum \u201cTate,\u201d 15.<\/p>\n<p>Luke shared that despite the tragedies, \u201cyou\u00a0have to find silver linings\u201d and \u201cappreciate\u201d them. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy oldest Bo and Til, I mean, it is all brotherly. It looks and smells just like two brothers complaining and fighting and wrestling and giving each other a hard time,\u201d he said. \u201cBut with Tate, my 15-year-old and Til, they have a really special bond, and I can\u2019t imagine a household where Til would have never grown up in it. And, I mean, it\u2019s just been a blessing and a silver lining to have him and to watch the girls go through life and become mothers and\u2026 and get through life daily has been pretty inspiring too. I\u2019m really proud of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan, Caroline Bryan and their son Bo. <span class=\"credit\">Caroline Bryan\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Luke Bryan poses with his wife Caroline. <span class=\"credit\">Caroline Bryan\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2021, Luke expressed to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/parents\/luke-bryan-relationship-with-nephew-and-sons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a> that \u201cwe get\u00a0to live with Kelly through her children, and we see so many things in her children that remind us of her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cAs a family, we really try to do good to just remember the beauty of the people we lost and not dwell on the fact that they\u2019re not in our lives daily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luke also shared how exciting the current phase of life is for his sons. <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\">\u201cAs they grow older, it\u2019s easier to let them tag along,\u201d he told <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/parents\/luke-bryan-on-golden-years-of-raising-his-two-sons-exclusive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a> at the time. \u201cThey become little men and they become functional little microcosms of me. Their personalities are really different \u2026 They become your buddies. I mean, they\u2019re still your kids, you still have to do the discipline and you still have to teach them the right and wrongs of life, but they really morph into your buddies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I\u2019m certainly in the golden years.
