Reality star Masika Kalysha, best known for her time on VH1\u2019s \u201cLove & Hip Hop: Hollywood,\u201d is mourning the death of her estranged husband Jamar Champ. He died early Tuesday morning after a wrong-way crash in Houston. <\/p>\n
\u201cI am in shambles,\u201d she captioned an Instagram video<\/a> shared Tuesday morning. \u201cPlease respect my family and my children at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n In her post, the actor-singer urged blogs to hold back from sharing information about Champ\u2019s death \u201cuntil I do.\u201d The 40-year-old entertainer underscored the importance of her being the first to tell her children about their father\u2019s fatal crash. \u201cI don\u2019t want my kids to find out at school before I can tell them,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n The Houston Police Department announced<\/a> Tuesday that it is investigating the crash that occurred around 12:05 a.m. on the West Interstate Highway. Police said a silver BMW was driving west in eastbound lanes and \u201cstruck a silver Tesla Cybertruck head on,\u201d according to a statement. As a result of the collision, the BMW caught fire and the Cybertruck struck an 18-wheeler. <\/p>\n Police confirmed in another release<\/a> that the drivers of the BMW and Cybertruck both died \u2014 the former was pronounced dead at the scene and the latter died after he was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.<\/p>\n Though law enforcement did not confirm the identities of the deceased drivers, Champ\u2019s family confirmed to KHOU 11<\/a> that he was the Tesla driver and died of his injuries. He was 38. <\/p>\n Kalysha seemed to share the news of her estranged husband\u2019s death on X,<\/a> tweeting \u201cGod woke me up at 2:00am\u2026 I couldn\u2019t sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know why. Jesus Christ I just received the worse news of my life,\u201d she added. \u201cPray for me and my kids please.\u201d<\/p>\n She later confirmed Champ\u2019s death in a statement<\/a> to the Shade Room. \u201cDuring this incredibly challenging time, I kindly ask for respect and understanding as our family comes together to support one another and honor his memory,\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n \u201cYour thoughts, prayers, and love mean the world to us as we navigate this devastating loss.\u201d<\/p>\n Kalysha married former college football star Champ in 2021 and they share 3-year-old daughter Amari, according to People<\/a>. The reality star, who also shares daughter Khari with \u201cTrap Queen\u201d rapper Fetty Wap, said in December 2023 that she and Champ were \u201cseparated.\u201d A year later she said she was in mediation <\/a>with her \u201csoon-to-be\u201d ex-husband.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
