Lisa Vanderpump<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s nephew Sam Vanderpump<\/strong> announced that he and his fianc\u00e9e, Alice Yaxley<\/strong>, are expecting their first child \u2014 just weeks before revealing his end-stage liver disease diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife is full of surprises, but this is the best one yet,\u201d Sam, 28, captioned the pregnancy announcement shared via Instagram<\/a> on September 16. \u201cI can\u2019t put into words how happy and excited we are!\u201d<\/p>\n

The post included a photo of Alice\u2019s ultrasound scan surrounded by white roses aligned in the shape of a heart and the couple\u2019s hands beneath the scan, as well as a snap of Sam kissing his fianc\u00e9e\u2019s pregnant belly and holding up the scan for the camera.<\/p>\n

One day before the Instagram announcement, Sam and Alice, 24, opened up about the pregnancy to The Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJanuary 17, 2025 marks exactly one year since Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace announced King Charles and his daughter-in-law Princess Kate Middleton\u2019s respective hospitalizations. At the time, details about their respective conditions were extremely limited. It was later revealed that both Charles, 76, and Middleton, 43, had received treatment for respective cancer diagnoses. \u201cIt was definitely a surprise. I had missed a period, but I have polycystic ovaries, so it wasn\u2019t a shock to have missed a period,\u201d Alice explained. \u201cBut I did a test to be safe, and I wasn\u2019t expecting anything, but it was positive. It was a big shock. We looked at each other and thought, \u2018Wow, this is big,\u2019 but everything else in our lives was so right. We knew we were obviously going to be together and there is never perfect timing, so we are changing the plan around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alice added that she thought she wouldn\u2019t be able to have children, so the pregnancy came as a \u201crelief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sam told the outlet that they\u2019re having a baby boy and already have a name picked out: \u201cMarmaduke.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad is no longer with us, but he always wanted to call my brother \u2018Duke\u2019 because he believed my brother would one day become Prime Minister, Duke Vanderpump,\u201d Sam said. (Sam is the son of Lisa\u2019s older brother, Mark<\/strong>, who died by suicide in October 2018 at age 59.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI really love the name. My mum didn\u2019t like it, so my brother was named Jack. My dad still had the last laugh by giving him the middle name Daniels. I think Marmaduke is fantastic, and we\u2019ll call him Duke for short,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere\u2019s a great Downton Abbey<\/em> scene where Maggie Smith<\/strong> and her daughter discuss a man named Marmaduke, which made us love it even more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sam and Alice, who announced their engagement in March after six months of dating, told Lisa, 65, about the pregnancy during a recent episode of Made in Chelsea<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is great,\u201d she told the couple. \u201cI couldn\u2019t be happier. I\u2019m so happy for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Monday, October 27, episode of the U.K. reality show, Sam revealed that he had been diagnosed with end-stage liver disease<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no hope of my liver getting better, and he said, \u2018I wouldn\u2019t be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years.\u2019 They\u2019re sending me for a liver transplant assessment,\u201d he said during a conversation with costar Ollie Locke<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
