Jana Kramer<\/strong><\/a><\/span> is ready to continue her healing journey after an abusive past.<\/p>\n

During the Wednesday, October 29, episode of iHeartRadio\u2019s \u201cWhine Down<\/span><\/a>\u201d podcast, Kramer, 41, invited the daughter of her alleged abuser to have an open and honest conversation about their experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s my story, but this is also your story, and I do want to apologize,\u201d Kramer shared with a woman identified as Brittany Qualls<\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s got to be hard having someone that you don\u2019t know speak about someone that is your father, and so I apologize if that\u2019s ever been something that\u2019s been challenging for you to walk through.\u201d<\/p>\n

The One Tree Hill<\/i><\/span><\/a> alum continued, \u201cI don\u2019t know what that feels like to have someone talk about someone that \u2026 you\u2019ve never met me, you know, and like someone that you\u2019ve also never met too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJana Kramer and ex-husband Mike Caussin experienced many highs and lows throughout their relationship. Kramer and Caussin tied the knot in 2015, but the following year, Us Weekly broke the news that Caussin cheated on her with multiple women. He subsequently entered treatment for sex addiction. (The pair welcomed daughter Jolie in January 2016.) The [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although Kramer did not reveal the name of her abuser in the episode, she has previously spoken out about the alleged domestic abuse she endured during her first marriage to<\/a> Michael Gambino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne minute he would be kind and everyone loved him,\u201d Kramer recalled on her podcast. \u201cMy parents loved him, which made me think that I was the crazy one. \u2026 He would have this, like, switch that would just go from nice to evil within moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kramer married Gambino during a Las Vegas wedding in 2004 when she was 19.<\/p>\n

Gambino was convicted one year later of premeditated attempted murder and served five years in prison. Although he was released on parole, he died by suicide in 2012.<\/p>\n

In her conversation with Kramer, Qualls made it clear that an apology from the \u201cWhy You Wanna\u201d singer \u201cis not needed whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, this person was my father,\u201d she said. \u201cEven though I didn\u2019t know him, and I\u2019ve known all the bad things, I think you hope there\u2019s some good in there, but you know there\u2019s not. I guess I\u2019ve always been hopeful that someone would say something good. I\u2019ve learned to be ok with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qualls said she first learned of her father\u2019s behavior when picking up an issue of People<\/i><\/a> magazine and seeing his mugshot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely not something you thought one day it would be, like, in public or anything,\u201d Qualls said. \u201cI think when I heard it for the first time, I was like, \u2018No, that\u2019s not my dad,\u2019 and then hearing more from other people, it kind of weighs heavy on you a little bit because you go through the whys.\u201d<\/p>\n

With help from therapy, Qualls said she has been able to process a lot of difficult information and live a full life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that I am not him, and his actions aren\u2019t me,\u201d she declared. \u201cAt the end of the day, I am who I make myself be, and whatever he did is not who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
