PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) \u2014 Apple Cinemas is wasting no time moving into the Providence Place mall<\/a>.<\/p>\n The theater will officially open its doors on Nov. 1 \u2014 just days after Showcase Cinemas vacated the space<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cApple Cinemas will bring new energy, new entertainment, and new reasons for families and visitors to spend time at the mall,\u201d said Mark Russo,\u00a0the attorney in charge of the mall\u2019s receivership<\/a>. \u201cThis reflects our broader commitment to strengthening Providence Place\u2019s long-term success and appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n RELATED: Apple Cinemas taking over theater at Providence Place mall <\/a><\/p>\n The original Showcase Cinemas, located on the entertainment level of the mall, first opened 25 year ago with 16 screens and an IMAX theater.<\/p>\n Apple Cinemas plans to renovate the movie theater over the course of the next year. The renovations, which are expected to be completed by winter 2026, include installing luxury recliners and enhancing the IMAX experience, as well as adding a bowling lounge, bar and trampoline park.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to bring a completely new kind of entertainment experience to Providence,\u201d Apple Cinemas\u2019 Siva Shan said. \u201cOur vision is to create a space where guests can enjoy movies, games and social fun under one roof.\u201d<\/p>\n The only other Apple Cinemas in Rhode Island\u00a0opened three years ago<\/a>\u00a0at the Warwick Mall.<\/p>\n MORE: That\u2019s all, folks!
