Diane Lane admits there was a bit too much testosterone on the set of 1983\u2019s The Outsiders<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Oscar-nominated actress stopped by a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show,<\/em> where she was asked about her experience shooting the movie with mainly male costars, including Tom Cruise,\u00a0Rob Lowe,\u00a0Emilio Estevez,\u00a0Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell,\u00a0Patrick Swayze and\u00a0Matt Dillon.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat was it like to be with literally every single young man who would become the biggest male movie stars?\u201d host Drew Barrymore asked, to which Lane replied with a laugh, \u201cIt was hot! It was great.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the Anniversary<\/em> star noted she did need to find her moments away from the boys at times. \u201cIt was kind of\u2026 too much testosterone for one girl,\u201d she confessed. \u201cSo I kept to myself. But I was definitely pinching myself. I was definitely overwhelmed.\u201d<\/p>\n Barrymore completely understood where Lane was coming from. The host quipped in response, \u201cI think that was the movie that made me realize like, \u2018I like boys.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Oh wow, I get it now.’\u201d<\/p>\n The Outsiders<\/em>, based on author S. E. Hinton\u2019s book of the same name, was set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1964. The Francis Ford Coppola-directed film<\/a> followed the rivalry between two gangs, the poor Greasers and the rich Socs, which heats up when one gang member accidentally kills a member of the other.<\/p>\n During her chat with Barrymore, Lane also reflected on one memorable moment while filming the pic: the drive-in cinema scene with Howell, who played Ponyboy Curtis.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember when we were at the movie theater and they were creating this windstorm. They had these big huge fans and they were throwing cocoa powder to make the dust so it wouldn\u2019t be toxic or get in our eyes,\u201d she recalled. \u201cBy the end of the night, we would just be, like, white striping.
