The weekend of November 7 will be one of the busiest and musically diverse release windows of the year, with new music from Rosal\u00eda, The Mountain Goats, Mavis Staples, and several more arriving at the same time. Later in the month, perennial rock acts Cheap Trick and Danko Jones will return as we move into the holidays. Needless to say, expectations are high for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lux<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but Rosal\u00eda seems prepared to meet them. \u201cBerghain,\u201d the first track shared from the album which features contributions from Bj\u00f6rk and Yves Tumor, is easily one of the most dramatic tracks of the year. Named for the world-famous Berlin club, the track is quite literally operatic and sounds backed by a whole orchestra. Rosal\u00eda has also <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefader.com\/2025\/10\/22\/who-are-rosalia-lux-album-features\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teased collaborations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with artists working in more traditional Catalonian, Portuguese, and Mexican genres such as fado, urban sierre\u00f1o, and, of course, flamenco. Featuring \u201ccameos\u201d from artists like Bonnie Raitt, MJ Lenderman, and Justin Vernon, per a press release, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sad And Beautiful World <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">promises an urgent, timely collection of songs delivered with the gravitas that can only exist with seven-plus decades of practice. While Staples\u2019 style is generally timeless, the new album includes writing from some of the 21st century\u2019s most influential voices; \u201cHuman Mind\u201d was co-written by Hozier (who previously collaborated with Staples on his 2018 single \u201cNina Cried Power\u201d) while \u201cGodspeed\u201d is a cover of the Frank Ocean track from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blonde<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This one comes with a full, maritime-y sound and an extremely Mountain Goats concept: The album tells the story of \u201ca small crew shipwrecked on a desert island, where three surviving members\u2014an unnamed narrator, Captain Peter Balkan, and Adam\u2014are plagued by diminishing resources and apocalyptic visions.\u201d Joining the band on this voyage are former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson and Broadway\u2019s Lin-Manuel Miranda, giving the record, which the band describes on their site as a \u201cfull-on musical,\u201d some extra theater cred. The rest of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stardust<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> features a list of fellow glitched-out collaborators, including Frost Children, Jane Remover, and femtanyl, all of whom have worked with the emcee in the past few years. In a press release ahead of the album, Allie X said she was \u201cdrawn away from my computer, toward the piano,\u201d and the bits of the album we\u2019ve heard so far support that. Moving from the new wave-influenced electropop of her last album, lead single \u201cIs Anybody Out There?\u201d dips into some light funk and some new jack swing-style orchestra hits beneath a layered, hypnotic vocal. Second single \u201cReunite\u201d includes some harpsichord before settling into another funky \u201980s bass line and a floating pure-pop melody that almost recalls ABBA. Holden Jaffe) is getting introspective on his third studio album, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chasing The Chimera<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cI know too much it\u2019s freaking me out,\u201d he sings on \u201cHow To Live,\u201d a warm slice of indie pop in the vein of The 1975 or former collaborator Maggie Rogers. Creating the album has \u201cbeen healing my cynical heart,\u201d Jaffe wrote in his <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOOZNntDXPv\/?img_index=1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announcement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Instagram. That includes his experience of evacuating from the recent Los Angeles wildfires, which he captured in opening track \u201cMarigolds.\u201d The song is also about how \u201ceverything feels too late and too early all at once,\u201d he said. This album, at least, is coming right on time; it\u2019ll pair well with hot cocoa, solo walks, and crispy leaves. On her <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hatchie.bandcamp.com\/album\/liquorice\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bandcamp page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Pilbeam explained that the album was inspired by a quest to go back to basics and turn her songwriting limitations into strengths. She\u2019s certainly done that on nostalgic, Jay Som-produced lead singles \u201cOnly One Laughing\u201d and \u201cLost It Again,\u201d both of which would be right at home on a tragic \u201990s romance soundtrack of their own.
