King Charles hosted a private party at Windsor Castle for one of
\nthe most devoted members of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n
The King, along with Queen Camilla, hosted a special reception
\nat the castle to mark the 90th birthday of the Duke of Kent.<\/p>\n
The event stayed private until after it had finished with first
\nmention of the party appearing in the Court Circular.<\/p>\n
Under the date of October 29 2025, the official record of royal
\nevents noted that \u201dThe King and Queen this evening gave a Reception
\nat Windsor Castle in honour of The Duke of Kent\u2019s Ninetieth
\nBirthday.\u201d<\/p>\n
And it listed some of the guests there with the presence of the
\nDuke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim
\nLaurence recorded. The Duke of Gloucester was also there as were
\nthe Duke of Kent\u2019s siblings, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess
\nAlexandra.<\/p>\n
The Court Circular usually records the presence of working
\nroyals although Prince Michael and Sir Tim aren\u2019t usually on that
\nlist, despite Princess Anne\u2019s husband taking on a number of
\nengagements for the Royal Family.<\/p>\n
As such, it\u2019s expected the guest list was actually more
\nextensive. The Duke of Kent\u2019s three children are all expected to
\nhave been there. The Earl of St. Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor and
\nLord Nicholas Windsor are most likely to have been accompanied by
\ntheir children at the event.<\/p>\n
It comes just over a month after a much sadder family event. On
\nSeptember 16, the Duke of Kent led his family at the funeral of his
\nwife of 64 years. The Duchess of Kent died on September 4 2025 at
\nthe age of 92.<\/p>\n
The Duke of Kent has been carrying out royal engagements for
\ndecades and is the longest serving royal duke in history.<\/p>\n
He was born on October 9 1935, the elder son of George and
\nMarina, Duke and Duchess of Kent. He inherited the title in August
\n1942, at the age of six, when his father was killed in a plane
\ncrash during World War Two.<\/p>\n
King Charles is understood to have a deep respect for the Duke
\nwho was a constant companion to his cousin, Queen Elizabeth II, at
\npublic engagements in the last years of her reign.<\/p>\n
