On Thursday, Oct. 30, Variety<\/a> followed up THR’s reporting; according to both outlets, director Rodrigue Huart is in talks to helm the movie.<\/p>\nPEOPLE has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.<\/p>\n
Screenwriters Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who cowrote The Conjuring franchise installments The Nun II and this year’s The Conjuring: Last Rites<\/a> will write the new prequel’s screenplay, according to Variety.<\/p>\nIt remains unclear whether Farmiga and Wilson, both 52, will reprise their roles as Lorraine and Ed Warren in the new movie, especially after Last Rites was advertised as the final chapter in the couples’ paranormal investigations.
