Jesse Eisenberg<\/strong><\/a> is voluntarily planning to donate one of his kidneys<\/a> to a complete stranger in less than two months.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m actually donating my kidney in six weeks. I really am,\u201d Eisenberg, 42, said on the Thursday, October 30, episode of the Today<\/i><\/a> show, after helping the morning show set up its blood drive. \u201cI don\u2019t know why. I got bitten by the blood donation bug [and] I love it. I\u2019m doing an altruistic donation [in] mid-December. I\u2019m so excited to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organs donated altruistically come from individuals who make nondirected donations to recipients they don\u2019t know, according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. (Other organ donations are transplanted from a relative or a person with the same blood type matched via a universal registry.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s essentially risk-free and so needed,\u201d the Now You See Me: Now You Don\u2019t <\/i>actor told Today<\/i>. \u201cI think people will realize that it\u2019s a no-brainer, if you have the time and the inclination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJesse Eisenberg has said goodbye to Hollywood in favor of the Midwest \u2014 Indiana, specifically. \u201cI\u2019ve lived in Indiana for a decade on-and-off and that\u2019s where I feel the most comfortable,\u201d Eisenberg, 41, shared during a CBS News interview, which aired on Sunday, February 2. \u201cI\u2019m not somebody who wants to surround myself in an [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eisenberg first expressed interest in donating an organ<\/a> \u2014 altruistic donors usually donate a kidney \u2014 10 years ago after speaking with medical professionals.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s say person X needs a kidney in Kansas City, [and] their child or whoever was going to donate to them is, for whatever set of reasons, not a match, but somehow I am,\u201d Eisenberg explained to the outlet. \u201cThat person can still get my kidney and hopefully that child of that person still donates their kidney, right? It goes to a bank where that person can find a match recipient, but it only works if there is basically an altruistic donor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eisenberg also registered for the National Kidney Foundation\u2019s family voucher program, so that any of his relatives would be prioritized on the list should they ever need the organ.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s risk-free for my family, as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJesse Eisenberg says he is in the process of becoming a citizen of Poland. \u201cI applied for Polish citizenship about 9 months ago. Apparently, all the paperwork has already been submitted and I\u2019m waiting for the final signature,\u201d Eisenberg, 40, told local newspaper G\u0142os Wielkopolski earlier this month. \u201cMy family is from the south-east of [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eisenberg\u2019s family includes his wife, Anna Strout<\/strong>, and their 7-year-old son Banner.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy general feeling is I spent the first 35, sorry 33 years of my life worrying about myself,\u201d Eisenberg previously told People <\/i><\/a>in March 2024, detailing how parenthood changed his life. \u201cA lot of these concerns were just narcissistic, self-involved, fantastical problems that I created to just ruin my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cThen I spent the next seven years of my life worrying about real things, worrying about another person. I know it sounds like a self-serving excuse, but it\u2019s made me a lot happier.\u201d<\/p>\n
