Almost a decade after the release of Season 1, the fifth season of \u201cStranger Things\u201d will finally premiere in less than a month, and the newly released trailer gives fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the final season.<\/p>\n
Netflix released a nearly three-minute-long trailer on Thursday for the final season of its hit coming-of-age sci-fi series. The first season of the series premiered in 2016.<\/p>\n
The official description of the new season reads: \u201cThe fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished \u2014 his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.\u201d<\/p>\n
The description continues: \u201cAs the anniversary of Will\u2019s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming \u2014 and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they\u2019ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they\u2019ll need everyone \u2014 the full party \u2014 standing together, one last time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a look at what viewers can learn from the trailers as well as when they will be able to watch the new season.<\/p>\n
The new trailer opens in the Upside Down version of the Hawkins Library, which is covered in slimy vines. This spot is where Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was found after he went missing during the series\u2019 first season.<\/p>\n
The song \u201cWho Wants to Live Forever\u201d by Queen plays throughout the trailer as it lays out the situation the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana, are in.<\/p>\n
Viewers learn that Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is back and determined to invade the real world, meaning all of the fan-favorite characters must come together to \u201cfind Vecna and end this once and for all,\u201d as Finn Wolfhard\u2019s character Mike says in the trailer.<\/p>\n
The trailer also shows Demogorgons tearing through soldiers that are holding Hawkins under quarantine, and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) is seen holding a still-comatose Max (Sadie Sink) in a hospital elevator as a Demo-dog runs toward them.<\/p>\n
Other characters are shown working to take down Vecna in various ways.<\/p>\n
At the end of the trailer, Vecna stands in a military base, which is in flames and full of dead soldiers, as he levitates an incapacitated Will toward him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWilliam,\u201d he says \u201cyou are going to help me \u2014 one last time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cStranger Things\u201d Season 5 will have eight total episodes, which will be released in three parts, all during holiday weekends, per Variety. <\/a><\/p>\n Volume 1, consisting of the first four episodes, will be released on Nov. 26, and the next three episodes will make up Volume 2, which will be released on Christmas. The series finale will be released on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n Each episode drop will be at 5 p.m. PST.<\/p>\n Netflix is also releasing the finale in over 350 movie theaters on New Year\u2019s Eve and it will play through Jan. 1, 2026, per Variety. <\/a><\/p>\n According to The Hollywood Reporter,<\/a> Netflix has already released all the episode titles for the season as well: \u201cThe Crawl,\u201d \u201cThe Vanishing of (censored for now)<\/i>,\u201d \u201cThe Turnbow Trap,\u201d \u201cSorcerer,\u201d \u201cShock Jock,\u201d \u201cEscape From Camazotz,\u201d \u201cThe Bridge\u201d and \u201cThe Rightside Up.\u201d<\/p>\n A few months ago, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the show\u2019s final season.
