Fellow nepo babies can learn a thing or two from actor Allison Williams<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Williams, the daughter of former NBC news anchor Brian Williams<\/a>, spoke about understanding her privilege \u2015 and also \u201cdeeply\u201d understanding why people have \u201chated\u201d her so much \u2015 in a new interview with The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cFirst, the theater kid energy is triggering for a lot of people,\u201d the \u201cGirls\u201d actor shared. \u201cThere\u2019s a reason I don\u2019t sing regularly. I get to do it once a decade without it becoming too annoying.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe other thing is, I have so many different layers of privilege that it\u2019s hard for me to put together the idea of a person it would be less fun to root for,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019m much more satisfying to root against. I really get it. I really, really get it.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The 37-year-old added that she has always \u201ccared about what people think about me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI still do, but I can\u2019t begrudge people their reactions,\u201d she admitted. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cM3gan\u201d star has made similarly honest [heartening?] comments<\/a> about her privilege before, which have also won her praise. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAll that people are looking for is an acknowledgment that it\u2019s not a level playing field. It\u2019s just unfair,\u201d Williams told Vulture back in 2023<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cPeriod, end of the story, and no one\u2019s really working that hard to make it fair,\u201d she shared. \u201cTo not acknowledge that me getting started as an actress versus someone with zero connections isn\u2019t the same \u2014 it\u2019s ludicrous. It doesn\u2019t take anything away from the work that I\u2019ve done. It just means that it\u2019s not as fun to root for me.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Williams\u2019 acknowledgment of her leg up in life separates her from some other children of celebrities, who have denied that their privilege \u2015 or their famous relatives \u2015 helped them in any way. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kate Hudson told The Independent<\/a> back in 2022 that she doesn\u2019t \u201creally care\u201d about \u201cthe nepotism thing.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI look at my kids and we\u2019re a storytelling family. It\u2019s definitely in our blood,\u201d Hudson said at the time. \u201cPeople can call it whatever they want, but it\u2019s not going to change it. I actually think there are other industries where it\u2019s [more common]. Maybe modeling?
