Sound the alarm: The world of 9-1-1: Lone Star<\/em><\/a> survives!<\/p>\n

The 9-1-1<\/em> universe’s first spinoff ended its five-season run on Fox earlier this year, but a character from the Austin-set series got namechecked on 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em><\/a> season 1, episode 4 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The reference occurred after new recruit Blue Bennnings (Hunter McVey) was caught on camera making a daring rescue at a waterpark.<\/p>\n

“Your boy Blue went viral. Four million likes,” Ryan Hart (Michael Provost) told his dad\/fire captain Don (Chris O’Donnell<\/a>) of their colleague, who is also Don’s son and Ryan’s half-brother<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then Ryan explained how his stepbrother got so much online attention: “Firefox down in Austin shared it. It\u2019s blowing up. They’re calling him #HotTarzan.”<\/p>\n

Ryan wasn’t referring to the search engine, but rather the nickname of Marjan (Natacha Karam<\/a>), a Lone Star<\/em> character who became a social media star for similar heroics.<\/p>\n

The Firefox mention comes a week after a full-on crossover with Nashville<\/em>‘s 911 dispatcher Cammie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley<\/a>) appearing on the mothership 9-1-1<\/em>, helping Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt<\/a>) connect with Athena (Angela Bassett)<\/a> and Hen (Aisha Hinds<\/a>) in space. Yes, space<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So will we see more crossovers moving forward? Or actually see Lone Star<\/em> characters return to the franchise?<\/p>\n

9-1-1<\/em> co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear has told Entertainment Weekly<\/em>, “I think the network would love” crossovers<\/a> and, unprompted, told us<\/a>, “I adore [Lone Star<\/em> actress]\u00a0Gina Torres<\/a>, and will hopefully work with her again soon.”<\/p>\n

If the call comes, Lone Star<\/em> lead Rob Lowe is ready<\/a>. “I’m just waiting for my phone to ring,” he said recently to Decider<\/em><\/a> \u2014 noting that his brother\u00a0Chad Lowe<\/a> serves as an executive producer and director on\u00a0Nashville<\/em>.<\/p>\n

9-1-1<\/em> and 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em> air on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET, respectively.<\/p>\n
