Lithuanian screen and theater legend Juozas\u00a0Budraitis, who has been dubbed \u201cthe James Dean of the Baltics,\u201d will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award\u00a0at the 29th edition<\/a> of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival<\/a> (P\u00d6FF), organizers unveiled on Friday.<\/p>\n Active since 1966, the 85-year-old Budraitis has appeared in more than 120 film and television roles \u2013 \u201cfrom revolutionaries to kings, including notable performances in Estonian cinema,\u201d the fest highlighted. Among other roles, he starred in the Soviet production\u00a0Wounded Game, which screened at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival, and had a small part as an old chess player towards the end of the final episode of\u00a0the Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a>-starring Netflix miniseries The Queen\u2019s Gambit<\/a>.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n In a tribute to Budraitis, the Tallinn fest will screen Nerijus Milerius\u2019 biographical documentary Old Man\u2019s Journeys, \u201ca portrait of Baltic film and theater icon Juozas Budraitis, revisiting his roles, places and friends, on and off screen,\u201d and Mantas Verbiejus\u2019 Sand in Your Hair. \u201cAs time slips away, two aging hearts escape society\u2019s limits, finding freedom and love in the time they have left,\u201d reads a synopsis of the movie. \u201cMaestro Juozas Budraitis plays a memorable supporting role alongside two other Lithuanian icons: J\u016brat\u0117 Onaityt\u0117 and Liubomiras Laucevi\u010dius.\u201d<\/p>\n A summary of Old Man\u2019s Journeys on the Tallinn fest website shows the respect the actor receives. \u201cMaestro Juozas Budraitis recently celebrated his 85th birthday, yet he still seems to be only 58,\u201d it reads. \u201cThe beloved and vibrant actor journeys through memories, feelings, secrets, traumas and observations, from his childhood in Klaip\u0117da to his lovely encounter with Slovak actress Zuzana Koc\u00farikov\u00e1 in Bratislava, where he learnt Czech in 1968.\u201d<\/p>\n And it highlights: \u201cFilmmaker and philosopher Nerijus Milerius (Johatsu, Exemplary Behaviour) follows the restless actor as he travels by car, train, and plane.
