\n Analysis: Andrew will likely attend royal events despite ‘humiliation’ – but eighth in line to throne won’t be seen\n <\/p>\n
Our royal commentator Alastair Bruce has described the “significant” move by the King to remove Andrew’s royal titles as a “huge humiliation”.<\/p>\n
“It must have been quite a challenge personally [for the King] because it’s his brother,” Bruce said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The monarchy is his principal responsibility and serving the nation, and this was entirely necessary in order to make it clear that the King wishes to put a distance between these horrific Epstein allegations and all that means and the work that he does as head of state.<\/p>\n
“It’s a huge humiliation for him, and also I think leaving the house that you have come to know as home is extremely unsettling for anybody.”<\/p>\n
How will Andrew be funded?<\/b><\/p>\n
Bruce explained that the late Queen most likely would have done something to “support her son”.<\/p>\n
“He also will have his pension from the Royal Navy,” Bruce said.<\/p>\n
“He served as an officer in the Royal Navy until he left that service and went into royal duties, and so I suppose that will be part of it.”<\/p>\n
Will he be seen in public?<\/b><\/p>\n
Bruce said Andrew is still “part of a family” and is likely to attend weddings, funerals and other big events.<\/p>\n
However, he said we probably won’t see Andrew using the main entrance.<\/p>\n
“I think what we won’t see is Andrew Mountbatten Windsor using the main door of churches when there is public interest in the attendance of members of the Royal Family,” Bruce explained.<\/p>\n
“I think he will come in and leave those events privately.”<\/p>\n
Still eighth in line<\/b><\/p>\n According to Buckingham Palace, Andrew is still eighth in line for the throne.<\/p>\n Both his nephews and their children are ahead of him.
