\t\t<\/p>\n Kate McKinnon<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about a health diagnosis.<\/p>\n In a new interview promoting her new movie The Roses<\/em>, the 41-year-old Saturday Night Live<\/em> alum revealed that she has been diagnosed with geographic tongue.<\/p>\n The diagnosis came up when Kate<\/strong> was asked by People<\/a><\/em> to share the last screenshot or picture she took on her phone, to which she said was a photo of her tongue.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span> \u201cI took a photo of my tongue and sent it to an actor friend of mine,\u201d Kate<\/strong> shared. \u201cWe both have the same medical condition. It\u2019s called geographic tongue. Your tongue sheds in patches and looks like an atlas, hence the name \u2018geographic tongue.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n According to the Mayo Clinic<\/a><\/em>, geographic tongue is \u201can inflammatory but harmless condition affecting the surface of the tongue. The tongue usually is covered with tiny, pinkish-white bumps called papillae. These papillae are actually fine, hairlike structures. With geographic tongue, patches on the surface of the tongue are missing papillae. These patches are smooth and red, often with slightly raised borders.\u201d<\/p>\n Although geographic tongue may look concerning, it does not cause any serious health issues, but in some cases, it may cause tongue pain and make you more sensitive to certain foods.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s gross,\u201d Kate<\/strong> added. \u201cWe brag about how geographic we are on any given day.
