The best I can say is that it\u2019s been a bit better each week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>The premiere, hosted by Bad Bunny, fell flat with nearly every sketch. The second episode helmed by Amy Poehler had some solid hits and a lot of misses. The most recent episode hosted by Sabrina Carpenter was pretty great top to bottom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>With all that in mind, here are the ten best sketches so far this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>10 <\/label><span>\u2018Social Experiment\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Just barely making its way into the top 10 this season is the pre-taped sketch \u201cSocial Experiment&#8221; in which\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cracked.com\/article_44678_snl-original-laraine-newman-on-introducing-the-country-to-the-valley-girl-the-infamous-milton-berle-episode-and-why-everyone-was-nervous-about-steve-martin-hosting.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:SNL;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><span><i>SNL<\/i><\/span><\/a><span> writer Martin Herlihy plays an investigator conducting a social experiment where he \u201cfilled a theater with professional actors dressed to look stereotypically dangerous or scary.\u201d Building to be a sketch about racism, the truly hilarious reveal comes when the first patron enters the theater to find nearly every seat filled with people wearing green Frankenstein makeup. It\u2019s legit LOL funny, but the sketch suffers a familiar SNL fate from there: it goes on three minutes too long.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>9 <\/label><span>\u201dGrind Song\u201d <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/G_DoY_TAF9gpAzYZxQCnbQ--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/a155ac25027e1b2167006ef6b9afb9cc\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>While it doesn\u2019t really have any huge laughs, the \u201cGrind Song\u201d starring Sabrina Carpenter and Bowen Yang was solidly amusing. Both of them play preteens going to a school dance where they grind on each other in front of the chaperones. One of the best parts of the catchy song is the bridge, where the bankable Kenan Thompson plays a checked out principal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>8 <\/label><span>\u2018Pete Hegseth Cold Open\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/mYDfH35.sSGiYSN3322p6Q--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/ac8ca7bf12977984909563fa2b056263\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>It\u2019s rare to see Colin Jost out from behind the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cracked.com\/article_44282_brad-hall-wanted-to-turn-weekend-update-into-the-daily-show-back-in-the-1980s.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201cWeekend Update\u201d;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><span>\u201cWeekend Update\u201d<\/span><\/a><span> desk, but the Season 51 premiere launched with a cold open where Jost-As-Pete Hegseth yelled at all of America\u2019s generals, calling them fat and gay. James Austin Johnson then did his solid Donald T impression. It\u2019s not amazing, but there are some solid laughs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>7 <\/label><span>\u2018Girlboss Seminar\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/7rxcl09LHJIZEf.eEtac2A--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/d6e13ffb53d5eb0cffb5e06da2fd40eb\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Host Sabrina Carpenter put her comedy chops on full display in the \u201cGirlboss Seminar.\u201d She played a motivational speaker named Queen Lisha who spouted platitudes about female empowerment in between dance routines with two male backup dancers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>During one of the dance segments, the dancers swing Queen Lisha (as a dummy) around and throw her through a window. Queen Lisha reenters through the window and resumes the seminar, but one of the women in attendance (Sarah Sherman) is worried Queen Lisha has a head injury. After that, Queen Lisha\u2019s motivational patter makes less and less sense, and we\u2019re left trying to figure out if she actually has a head injury.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>6 <\/label><span>\u2018Weekend Update: Biohacker Chuck Spyro\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/.8g1kJQ670Qs6HRZfcRvxw--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/b772476fc08b5d54786856cfb1bda4df\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Perhaps it\u2019s not a ringing endorsement for Season 51 that two of its top 10 sketches were cut for time. In this \u201cWeekend\u201d spot, James Austin Johnson plays a fast-talking biohacker named Chuck Spyro who gives the audience all kinds of funny, moronic tips on how to better themselves. Michael Che is especially good as the straight man that Spyro ignores and talks over.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>5 <\/label><span>\u2018Shop TV: Pillow\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/xNjlSdEKr3cTKPDnK6lUwg--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/177572d5f180396c410781a84cf7f7f4\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>In the tradition of \u201cD in a Box,\u201d the \u201cShop TV: Pillow\u201d features a perfect prop that makes the sketch work. Mikey Day and Ashley Padilla play the hosts of a home shopping show and they welcome a designer (Sabrina Carpenter) who has designed a new neck pillow. Once the tube-like pillow is snapped together at the bottom, it very obviously looks like a lady part and everyone but Carpenter understands that. Kudos here to\u00a0<i>SNL<\/i>\u2019s prop department for nailing the sight gag.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>4 <\/label><span>\u2018Tall, Plain Boyfriend\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Another cut for time sketch that\u2019s better than most of what made it into the actual show is the commercial parody \u201cTall, Plain Boyfriend.\u201d Sabrina Carpenter is a spokesperson for \u201cTall, Plain Boyfriend,\u201d a service that hooks women up with tall, dull men. Or, as Carpenter puts it, \u201cNo drama. No personality. Just a long body with hair on head.\u201d It\u2019s a clear premise that\u2019s performed well and doesn\u2019t overstay its welcome, clocking in under three minutes. It shouldn&#8217;t have been cut.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>3 <\/label><span>\u2018Weekend Update: Concerned New Yorker Rhonda LaCenzo on Zohran Mamdani\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/RaMbIUgY1iKfsHKPDCIwmA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/35df816bd1386e9d7bd0af704166dac7\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Sarah Sherman shines in this \u201cWeekend Update\u201d desk spot. She plays Rhonda LaCenzo, a woman from Long Island who\u2019s terrified that Zohran Mamdani will be elected \u00a0Mayor of New York City, where she doesn\u2019t even live. Referring to him as a \u201cHipster Jihadist,\u201d she rambles about how he\u2019ll enact Sharia Law across the city and bring about horrors like universal childcare. It\u2019s solid, simple character work by Sherman, one of the show\u2019s funniest stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>2 <\/label><span>\u2018Plans\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/wEcuyGjL845YqWR5q6s84g--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/63af4751663d946b12e2579440495cb7\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>\u201cPlans\u201d is a Blumhouse\u00a0horror movie trailer parody. It\u2019s about a couple relaxing one night until the woman (Sabrina Carpenter) gets a text saying \u201cAlmost there\u201d from her cousin (Sarah Sherman). The guy in the relationship (Ben Marshall) is worried and asks \u201cWhich cousin is it?\u201d Carpenter replies \u201cThe one who runs marathons\u201d over scary horror music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>More and more terrible things are revealed &#8211; her cousin is bringing her husband (Mikey Day) who loves to show Marshall\u2019s character long YouTube videos on his phone. The best joke in the sketch comes when Marshall tells Carpenter \u201cJust tell them we have Covid\u201d and a shivering Carpenter replies \u201cThey don\u2019t believe in that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>1 <\/label><span>\u2018Miss Lycus The Fast Psychic\u2019 <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/gEj6a1cbzMOShIJ4H3ycEA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/9d2eb9dedbcd8834a440af0756828726\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>This season\u2019s best sketch to date was the razor-sharp \u201cMiss Lycus The Fast Psychic.\u201d Amy Poehler plays a surly talk show psychic who doesn&#8217;t drag out messages from deceased relatives. Instead, she rattles through them like someone placing their order at Starbucks. When audience members stand to ask about their departed loved ones, Miss Lycus interrupts, saying they\u2019re dead, drowned, burned or all of the above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>In a fast and funny three-and-a-half minutes, Poehler brought to life a hilarious new character that would have been a hit recurring sketch during her time on the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Get more Cracked directly to your inbox.
