The horrors here are not necessarily of the jump-scare variety, but more the realities of life as both a veteran pop-rock star not always given her due and as a woman facing double-standards in the music industry \u2014 one who recently endured a potentially life-threatening ectopic pregnancy, as she detailed in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/sep\/27\/florence-welch-sexism-screaming-lost-pregnancy-nearly-killed-her\" target=\"_blank\">a recent <em>Guardian<\/em> profile<\/a>. But regardless, Florence is no Final Girl, and <em>Everybody Scream<\/em> evinces the mighty strength she\u2019s developed as a singer, artist and person: \u201cCome on, come I can take it\/ Gimme everything you got\/ What else?\u201d she goads in \u201cSympathy Magic.\u201d Besides, as she attests in \u201cWitch Dance,\u201d \u201cYour threats and your promises, they don\u2019t scare me\/ After all, there\u2019s nobody more monstrous than me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Tyler, The Creator, \u201cMother\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTyler, the Creator apparently considers his newly released bonus track \u201cMother\u201d such an important of his <em>CHROMAKOPIA<\/em> experience that his new <em>CHROMAKOPIA+<\/em> sticks it in the middle of the tracklist, not just at the end. A sympathetic song about his mom\u2019s experience having him, raising him and trying to teach him life wisdom, the track even includes an interlude of said matriarch warning him not to get arrested, because she had no intent of bailing him out of jail. He also holds some grace for his father: \u201cFather told me nothin\u2019\/ F\u2013k it\u2026. I hold no grudges, I heard he a fan.\u201d The beat and the backing grunts are tense (and intense), but the electric piano is warm and tender. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Brent Faiyaz, \u201cHave To.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn what\u2019s turning out to be an excellent year for crossover R&amp;B, it\u2019s a perfect time for the return of hitmaker Brent Faiyaz. Especially with a song this irresistible: \u201cHave To.\u201d is an immaculately produced love song about Faiyaz doing whatever has to do to be where he needs to be: \u201cI\u2019m in a race with time to get where I belong\/ \u2018Cause it feels so right after all these nights alone.\u201d Sweetly urgent but never overly insistent \u2014\u00a0and winking enough to avoid any undue sweatiness, including multiple vocal tracks of a pitch-altered Faiyaz basically dueting with himself \u2014\u00a0\u201cHave To.\u201d is another big winner for Faiyaz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Rene\u00e9 Rapp, \u201cLucky\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFrisky, poppy, lightly grungy alt-rock certainly seems to be the musical sweet spot for Rene\u00e9 Rapp, as evidenced first by her impressive August sophomore LP <em>Bite Me<\/em>, and now from her new song \u201cLucky.\u201d Recorded for the <em>Now You See Me: Now You Don\u2019t<\/em> soundtrack \u2014 sure \u2014 \u201cLucky\u201d features Rapp bragging about her charmed life over propulsive guitars and occasional synth flares, even throwing in a little meta-nudge with the bridge\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s almost like I\u2019m Rene\u00e9.\u201d Extra points for actually working the film\u2019s title into the lyrics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Sub Focus feat. Grimes, \u201cEntwined\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGrimes \u2018n\u2019 Bass! As the wait continues for the follow-up to 2020\u2019s <em>Miss Anthropocene<\/em>, Grimes has been busy with one-offs and collabs \u2014 most recently teaming up with the U.K. producer Sub Focus for this week\u2019s \u201cEntwined,\u201d whose moaning, growling, frequently shape-shifting beat is the perfect bed for the Canadian alt-pop star to wail over. It might not be explicitly spooky-scary, but if you happen to be one song short on your Halloween playlist for this weekend, it\u2019s unsettling and intense enough to be a fit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Oklou, <em>Choke Enough <\/em>(Deluxe)<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSpeaking of Grimes \u2014 rising French electro-pop singer-songwriter Oklou arrived with heavy Claire Boucher vibes earlier this year on shimmering debut album <em>Choke Enough<\/em>.
