Singer M\u00fda said hearing her \u201cyounger voice\u201d is cringey. The Grammy winner is marking the 25th anniversary of her breakthrough album \u201cFear of Flying,\u201d and revisiting those early recordings stirs memories of a career that demanded a lot from a very young artist. \u201cI don’t really listen to a lot of the old music because I like my voice now,\u201d she told People.<\/u><\/a> \u201cIt’s very cringey to me because I sound like a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Still, the emotion runs deeper than embarrassment. \u201cI get very emotional when I hear my younger voice because of all that was endured,\u201d M\u00fda said, reflecting on the pressure and growth that have shaped her. She remembers starting \u201cfresh out of high school,\u201d thrust into an industry watching her every move, and she\u2019s now calling the moment she\u2019s in, her \u201cgrown woman era.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI am so enamored by the journey because sometimes it takes 25, 27, 30 years to come into who you’re going to be for the rest of your life \u2014 and that’s where I am now,\u201d M\u00fda said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That reflection fuels her new music. Her latest single, \u201cFace to Face,\u201d is described as a meditation on self-love, spiritual growth, and healing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c\u2018Face to Face\u2019 is a very, very high vibrational record,\u201d M\u00fda added. \u201cIt’s all about self-reflection, introspection, healing, but also reassurance. It’s a spiritual song, even though it has a bit of swag. I call it my spiritual flex song.\u201d She said the video intentionally shows different versions of herself to invite fans into that process of becoming.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe world has yet to receive the best of M\u00fda,\u201d she said. After 25 years, she\u2019s not looking back to stay there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
