Doctors have scalpels. And I have this magic foundation, which I chemically formulated myself, patent pending.\u201d She plays Debra Palmer, one of Senior\u2019s former lovers, the one whose name has popped up in Matty and Olympia\u2019s investigation into Senior\u2019s trip to Australia 15 years prior, during the heat of the Wellbrexa case. Matty and Olympia are hoping to convince Debra to testify against Senior about the Wellbrexa study he ordered his son, Julian, to bury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Debra is a makeup artist, and Matty went undercover again to meet her. Disguised as a Texan woman named Cynthia, Matty had her makeup done by Debra, who moonlights \u201cas a mortuary cosmetologist doing open-casket work,\u201d she told Matty, really selling it. \u201cAll of the products in my line, Eternal Glamour, are medical-grade.\u201d That explains why Matty\u2019s face felt hard after that \u201cmagic foundation\u201d was slathered on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Thanks to Senior\u2019s expense reports that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/tv\/articles\/matlock-recap-powerful-ally-emerges-020051690.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Matty snagged in Episode 3;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Matty snagged in Episode 3<\/a>, Matty and Olympia knew some details about Senior and Debra\u2019s Australia trip. Matty used those details about a karaoke bar and watermelon martinis to make Debra think they had crossed paths in Sydney in that very bar 15 years before. Debra wouldn\u2019t call Senior by name in this first interaction, but she remembered him fondly and called him, \u201cMr. Magic Pants\u201d (oy\u2026).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They went to karaoke later that night to get to know each other better. They sang a duet together that had special meaning to Matty and her daughter, but Debra became increasingly cagey throughout the night when asked about her former lover. After Olympia showed up at the bar, Debra blocked Matty\u2019s phone number.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">Will Melanie Lynskey be back in\u00a0<em>Matlock<\/em>?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">CBS did not immediately respond for comment on Lynskey\u2019s\u00a0<em>Matlock\u00a0<\/em>role, but given that Debra is an integral piece of Matty and Olympia\u2019s plan right now \u2014 and Lynskey\u2019s personal connection to the show \u2014 it seems likely that she\u2019ll be back this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Additionally, Ritter called Lynskey\u2019s\u00a0<em>Matlock<\/em> appearance \u201cinevitable\u201d in April of this year, telling <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/decider.com\/2025\/04\/03\/jason-ritter-melanie-lynskey-matlock\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Decider;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Decider<\/a> that he had \u201cpassed the word on\u201d about Lynskey\u2019s interest in guest-starring to production. \u201cI would love to see that, and Melanie would love it. Everybody who works on <em>Matlock<\/em> would love that, too. So I think when all the pieces are aligned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">At the time, Lynskey confirmed her husband\u2019s comments and said she was merely waiting for them to pitch a script and for schedules to work out. Her one stipulation was that she got to have scenes with Bates, her favorite actor.
