Actress Suzanne Rogers, best known for playing Maggie Horton on the daytime soap opera \u201cDays of Our Lives,\u201d announced she was been diagnosed with Stage II colorectal cancer earlier this year. <\/p>\n
In an interview with TV Insider<\/a>, Rogers, 82, said that while she had been getting colonoscopies regularly, she recently felt that \u201csomething wasn\u2019t right\u201d with her body. <\/p>\n After making a doctor\u2019s appointment and having various. tests done, she got the bad news from her doctor.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018You have cancer and you have to start treatment,\u2019\u201d Rogers said. \u201cIt was all a shock. I mean, I think I was in a shock for several days because I take pretty good care of myself. But he said, \u2018It\u2019s a good thing you caught it in time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n She said she finished her work on \u201cDays\u201d on June 13 and began treatment three days later. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was radiation every day and chemo every day for six weeks and it was tough,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week and then you had off Saturday and Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends because I didn\u2019t have to go to and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors.\u201d<\/p>\n Rogers said that cast members and show producers offered help and support during that time, especially co-star Linsey Godfrey, who would accompany Rogers to her chemo appointments.<\/p>\n TV Insider reported Rogers, who has played Maggie Horton on the show for over 50 years, completed treatment on July 31 and will be heading back to the \u201cDays\u201d set soon to resume shooting. <\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest thing is that I was tired because that\u2019s not like me,\u201d she said. \u201cI have a lot of energy all the time, so it really kind of shook me thinking, \u2018Am I going to get my energy back?\u2019 And it seems like it\u2019s coming back. It\u2019s not 100% yet, but I feel better.
