While many Americans may be cutting back on spending this holiday season, celebrities with high net worths tend to spend as much as they want on holiday gifts and decor, regardless of inflation, the economy or other concerns that plague many people.<\/p>\n

Of course, celebs have to set the trends and go over the top. Kourtney Kardashian invested in \u201cat least five Christmas trees\u201d in 2018, according to People<\/a>.<\/p>\n The total value was estimated at $36,500, but we\u2019re not clear on whether that includes the two not-quite-life-size faux polar bears flanking the largest tree or the red and white ornaments.<\/p>\n Rapper Kanye West gifted Kim Kardashian a giant, beige Herm\u00e8s Berkin bag for Christmas 2013, when the couple was still together.<\/p>\n The bag cost $40,000 off the shelf, but West had to put his own twist on it. He commissioned \u201cMy Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy\u201d album cover artist George Condo to customize the bag with surreal paintings of nude people, creating what The Cut<\/a> called \u201cpossibly the ugliest bag in the history of civilization.\u201d<\/p>\n Birkin bags are apparently the gift of choice for many celebs. And Beyonc\u00e9 had plenty of choices waiting for her on Christmas morning, when husband Jay-Z gifted her an entire collection of Birkin bags, reportedly worth $350,000.<\/p>\n It was a last-minute splurge, purchased from the Herm\u00e8s store on Madison Avenue in New York City on Christmas Eve. That power move \u2014 or maybe it was a panic move \u2014 makes a strong case for planning ahead and doing your shopping early if you\u2019re trying to stick to a budget<\/a>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s fitting that the queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, gets to revel in extravagant holiday gifts.
