The event drew A-list stars including Demi Moore<\/a><\/strong>, Ali Larter<\/a><\/strong>, and Billy Bob Thornton<\/a><\/strong>. However, the arrival of veteran actor Sam Elliott<\/a><\/strong>, at 81, immediately focused attention.<\/p>\n Elliott, instantly recognizable for his silver hair, trademark mustache, and deep voice, walked the red carpet with his own particular brand of effortless cool. But I did do a movie called Lifeguard back in 1976 with a director named Dan Petrie, who did a lot of incredible work. Every once in a while, he would tell me: ‘Let\u2019s do it again, and this time, let\u2019s be a little less south in the mouth.’ That\u2019s always amused me.\u201d<\/p>\n Elliott’s career features a range of film and television projects. For many fans, he is best remembered as the tough guy from the 1989 film Road House, where he starred opposite Patrick Swayze<\/strong>. Decades later, he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 2018 film A Star Is Born.<\/p>\n Despite the critical acclaim, Elliott insists the work itself is the reward. What keeps him active in the industry? He explained, \u201cI\u2019ve done films over the years that basically no one saw. And I\u2019m thankful that some of them haven\u2019t been seen. But I\u2019ve been fortunate in that I\u2019ve been in a lot of films that a lot of people saw. It\u2019s not about legacy for me. It\u2019s about the people I\u2019m working with at the time, and just going in and enjoying the process. It\u2019s hard work, but it\u2019s a creative, artistic process.
